Question for Pokemon Sapphire

I am trying to catch Latios.

On supercheats somone said it is easier to catch Latios if you put it to sleep.

I have tried to use gloom ( lv 26 ) which Knows sleeppowder but everytime i try to use this move Latios runs away.

How can I catch it?

It's because Gloom is not on a very high level. Train it to level 40 or go to Lilycove or Slateport to buy one of those items that will raise your Gloom's speed. Buy lot's of them! That way, your Gloom can put Latios to sleep before it runs away.

I think it would be better if you used a golbat to catch latios. Your gloom is too slow, cos it's only level 26.

Even if it was very fast, you can't catch latios cos it can run away anytime. That's why you should use golbat, cos it knows mean look, which prevents latios from running away. A golbat from sky pillar would be good. When you see latios, use mean look, then make it very weak, then catch it.

I think you should have at least 3 golbats, cos latios knows psychic, and your golbat can easily be knocked out. So you need another golbat to use mean look again, cos latios can run away again.

I think you can still catch it w/o making it fall asleep. try it out ;)

I'm not sure if this works, but send a high level shiny Pokemon into battle. Since usually you can't run from wild shinies, let's see how this works.

Super gamer answered:

Rty training Gloom and maybe even evoling it so the speed will be higher and attack before the pokemon can run. You should also probable use a move like mean look so it cant wake up.

Cross Stinger answered:

I would suggest giving up on Gloom altogether — his speed, up to, let's say, 55 — is abysmal. If you want to get your Latias, you have to capitalize on a level-45-or-so Sableye (you should get plenty of them up on Sky Pillar on Sapphire) and ensure that it knows Mean Look. Once that Sableye locks the Mean Look on — bam! — Latias can't attack you, as the only moves that do direct damage that it knows are of the Psychic type, and since Sableye is of the Dark type, those attacks won't leave a scratch (until it's compelled, naturally, to use Struggle). Just keep plugging away until Latias is confined to less than 10 percent of its HP, and then start launching balls.

Liverpool F.C. rules answered:

Try using Wobuffet because its special ability prevents pokemon from running away.

Note: Have more than one because Latios knows a really good psychic attack I'm not sure what it's called and Latias knows mistball.

Also Latios is on ruby

Lab-boratory answered:

Use Sableye. Use mean look so he won't flee.
note... When I did this I had already paralyzed him from previous tries.

Lab-boratory answered:

I had the exact same problem. Don't use Gloom at all. And do not use Golbat. It's very simple. All you have to do is go to sky pillar, catch a lv 54 Sableye. Now find Latios use mean look, and the rest is up to you.

Nozomi answered:

Catching Latios is actually quite simple if you use the right methods and pokemon. I got mine just recently by training a Wobbuffet to lvl 43. Wobbuffet is a good choice because it's shadow tag ability prevents Latias/Latios from fleeing, and it also has a good amount of hp for taking hits(Mine has 228 hitpoints). Another big bonus if you use Wobbuffet is that it's partly immune to psychic type attacks. In your bag you should have 40 - 50 Ultra balls, and about 30 Hyper Potions or so. I take it you know how to track Latios, so i'll skip that part. When you get into a battle with Latios, start throwing Ultra balls, because weakening it is almost impossible, due to Wobbuffets lack of attack moves. After a while Latios (Atleast Latias did) will start to use Struggle which also hurts the user. If you haven't by now (I didn't either) already catched Latios with pure luck, flee the battle, track him again (maybe restock on Ultra Balls) and he will have the same amount of hp from when you left the battle. This ups your chances of catching him, which you probably will do. The method isn't the most safest, because he might faint, but it's worth a try.
