Mystery Events

What do they do? I think I heard someone mention it is a way to trade Pokemon from another game but I'm not sure...

Mystery Events? I have never heard of such a thing, I think that you have mistaken this term with two other things. The two things are the Nintendo Events, and the Mystery Gift option. Nintendo Events are what you have to go to in order to get the rare, and legendary Pokemon such as Mew, Mewtwo, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, and other Pokemon that I did not list. They no longer hold Nintendo Events for Pokemon Sapphire unfortunately, so if you want these Pokemon then you are going to have cheat to get them, or trade with someone who has them. Mystery Gift is an option used to trade items between trainers in the old Pokemon games. Now Mystery Gift is used with Nintendo Events. You have to use Mystery Gift to actually get the Nintendo Event item. So as you can see, they really have nothing to do with trading Pokemon.

Hope this helps.
