You buy the e-reader. Got mine from same place got the Game Boy Advance. It's comes with a cable and the E-reader. You pull the E-card slowly through it so it can read the data.
Hi there, an e-reader is actually a piece of peripheral hardware. I bought mine in K-Mart for $5 but they were once really quite expensive for what they are... A plug in device that you attach to your gameboy advance/sp and you have to buy e-reader trading cards that you slide through the e-reader like an eftpos or credit card, which sends info to your game. These were pretty unpopular, and not a whole heap of cards were made. They can be attached to your gameboy which can then be plugged into a gamecube and transfer info to games like a the original animal crossing... They used to cost over $100 in my country. (Australia)
If you want to see what one looks like, do a google image search on "e-reader" or go to nintendo's official website. Even check e-bay to see where to buy one.
Buy it from a store. EB Games, Gamespot, Best Buy, any of those are decent places.
