That happened to me alot of times, this is a trick I learnt all by myself. Instead of putting the device in all the way put it in about half way. This way you wont get any bad eggs or get a froze game. Sometimes after a while it will start to freeze again, just get rid of the official master code and leave the Pokemon encounter code in, that way it will take more notice to the encounter.
