I was just wondering if there were any major differences between Emerald..

Get the game. It is good. Some stuff in the game is the same but I think it is worth getting it. You can also look in the reviews section of Pokemon Emerald. There is a review there telling the differences of R and S and Emerald.

Yes you should buy it because in this one you can cath kyogre, Sudowoodo and smeargle, and deoxys and jirachi, and the ledgendary birds, Ho-oh and Lugia.

I would recommend getting Emerald, because it is pretty much a different game set in the same region. But, don't sell Ruby!

Here are some differences:

~Different Obtainable pokemon. You will see a wider variety of Pokemon in emerald, but to complete your hoenn dex fully, you need all versions(r/s/e)

~Battle Frontier, and symbols>> The battle fronteir has 9 places to battle, and each one offers a different style. In addition, once you beat them a certain number of times, you get these symbols embossed on your trainer cards. Yay.

~You catch Kyogre AND Groudon! This is a good one The only bad part is that you have to wait till after the elite 4 to be able to catch them.

~Pokemon Animations- if you get used to these, when you play r/s again it will seem like something is missing(i got so annoyed when I went back to play my sapphire version)

~More double Battles- Sometimes you'll get caught between two trainers that want to battle you, and you'll battle both at the same time.

~Rebattle Gym Leaders- Gym Leaders will call you for a rematch with tougher Pokemon, great way to train. And you still get you to keep your badge so don't worry :-)

In the end it seems like a lot of new things, but it's only things that ninty could have put in the original r/s. If those things seem appealing to you, then buy the game, otherwise just stick with ruby.

There are some differences but they aren't major differences.
1) You can get both groudon and Kyogre
2) There's the battle frontier
I only know those 2 but if you have an AR you can get kyogre too so theres not a big difference but the battle frontier is pretty fun yoyu can get bp (battle points) and get other moves. Plus you can find a sudowoodo there too

You can catch diffrent pokemon. Like Apom and much more(Don't know how to spell there names. Sorry) There is a new place in the saffari zone. And there is no battle tower, there is battle factory. Oh. And you can catch kiorgi and groundon.
