Question for Pokemon Emerald

Ok I think I'm incredibly screwed...
I was trading some Pokemon Zapdos, Articuno, Mewtwo, Moltres, Charizard, Dragonite from Leaf green to Pokemon Emerald. I gave Zapdos my Master ball to hold so I could use it on Emerald to catch Latios who I am really struggling with and needed a quick fix as I used Emeralds master ball on Rayquaza. So I traded the 4 legendaries over for some really poor Pokemon from Emerald, when suddenly Leaf green restarts and Emerald goes black. I turn it back on and on both games I'm outside the trading room. BUT! On both games the 4 legendaries are gone! And so is the masterball! Instead I discovered a duplication glitch and now have 2 slakoths, ninjask, roselia and minun. I don't give a crap about that though, I just lost the 4 rarest Pokemon and in exchange got nothing. How does that even happen? Is my Emerald just broke and incapable of saving the traded Pokemon to my game, or is this universal thing? And I take it my Pokemon have been erased from the game... I want to sue someone but I don't get the option when I talk to the trade people. FURIOUS!!!

Pokemon games made in different times cannot trade. For instance...lets say you have Pokemon red and Pokemon black. You want to trade a lillypup for a squirtle. Because when red was made, there was no lillypup, the game thinks it's a glich and shuts off to protect your data. And because black boes not have squirtle in it's pokedex, it also shuts off. The Pokemon,I'm sorry to say, are lost to the mists of time.

Thanks for the reply but I was trading from Emerald to Leaf green which are both 3rd gen games that are compatible to trade with each other in order to fill the national pokedex in both games. I just started a new save in the end and it turned out ok...
