You have to beat the corresponding place the leader is a certain amout of times in a row. Then after you beat it so many times, you will fight the Frontier Leader as the last trainer. If you beat them, you will get the symbol.

Beat the facility a ceratin amount of times in a row without losin and eventuall theyll battle you and if you beat them the first time you gat the silver and on the second time you get the gold but beware they are very tuff. Look on youtube, there might be some tutorials

Actually it's all luck. I fought one on my first time. It just happens.
