i have doubts
Do I need to catch jirachi and deaoxys to get one of the johto starters????
They are rare and I don't have the gamshark to cacth jira and deox

No you don't even have to see the finale 2 Pokemon you don't have to catch any one just see all the hooen dex Pokemon excluding jirachi and deoxes

No you do not, there is 202 in the hoenn dex and you need 200 to get a johto starter so they are excluding jirachi and deoxys since outside of america you can't get a nintendo event unless you go to new york so they are catering to the rest of the world here, like me

Just get 200 hoen region Pokemon and you will get a call from prof. Birch go to his lab and choose between the 3.
