It's not true. But your data will sometimes corrupt if you defeated the Champion. It's okay. If you start your game again and again, in your fifth turn, it will not erase.

Nope, that's just a bogus rumour. In Pokmeon Emerald, you're allowed to catch Rayquaza before the Elite 4. In fact, Pokemon Emerald's the only game out of the three where you can catch it before the Pokemon League.
