Fort Stars is a free-to-play strategy game that includes base building, recruiting heroes, and card elements. The objective of the game is to build a fort, putting up defenses such as traps to protect your most important asset; the throne room.
To defend your base and to raid other players you will need to assemble your own unique team from a roster of 17 'fort stars'. Each of these heroes wields powerful abilities, perks and destructive moves which you use in order to challenge other players traps and overall building choices which is achieved by playing action cards and instructing your heroes to choose the right route in order to loot everything from them. Each hero can be upgraded in order to raise its power and raid even more powerful and well defended forts.
Unlike similar games it is advised that you begin upgrading your cards as soon as you are able to as you only have a limited amount of gold that you can hold at once and once you reach that limit all extra gold is wasted. Upgrade cards even if you have no intention of using them, early in the game you should focus on your Hero and Spell cards. Invest in the building cards later in the game when you know exactly what rooms you will be using to build your base.
Focus on Heroes
Make sure that you are continually upgrading your heroes as they are your main attack force. Although expensive it is important that you constantly invest in upgrading their skills and not just leveling them up when you have enough cards to do so.
Know your Heroes
To get the most out of your heroes and give yourself a better chance of being successful you need to make sure take the time to learn their strengths and weaknesses, what their stats and skills are and when to use them.
In total there are 21 spell cards in the game and you can only bring 3 of them into battle at any one time. As you can only select 3 it is recommended that you bring the most useful spells that cost the least. Spell cards are used in battle like the skills of your heroes.
Single Player Missions
Ignore the multiplayer games early and instead focus on playing the single player missions as these are more beneficial to you as they give great rewards and allow you to unlock new heroes and card upgrades quickly. Playing the single player missions will also enable you to learn the basics of the game and teach you various strategies which you can use to your advantage in battles.
Replay Single Player Missions
Make sure you take advantage of being able to replay single player missions so you can gain additional loot which will usually be in the form of cards. When you replay the single player missions you will be shown exactly which card you will be rewarded with which allows you to focus on getting additional copies the card you want to upgrade.
Join a Guild
You may want to consider joining an active guild so you can take advantage of the benefits it offers. One of which is donating cards to unlock a chest where basically the more members in the guild who contribute the more often you will get a chest and the rewards that are inside.
