One of the greatest questions all people playing Football Manager 2018 will face is how to spend the budget their Football Club has at their disposal. This usually comes to down to whether or not to spend more on the Players found on the field of play or on the Scouts evaluating players you may recruit to join your club. More often than not, most players choose to invest more in their Scouting teams; however, believe it or not, it actually should depend on the club you're managing.
For most Football Clubs found in Football Manager 2018, one of the more important things you must do is find value on the Transfer Market. Because of this, investing more in a talented Scouting team that can identify good Players (especially ones that go under the radar of most) is key. Teams like this include the upper echelons of the World of Football, as most clubs of this status will be fighting for the same elite players found on the market.
But should you be managing one of the smaller clubs with a not-so-great budget, then, more often than not, you are probably better set investing your resources in upgrading the talent of your team rather than blowing it on Scouting only a few select Players that you might not even be able to ultimately Sign. You budgetary finances will be at a premium when managing a smaller club, forcing you to get the most out of the money you do have. And because of this, sometimes the situation will demand throwing money at a number of good players instead of scouting the Best of the best.
