FIFA 20 is a football simulation video game that is the 27th installment in the FIFA series. FIFA 20 introduces VOLTA Football, a new mode that provides a variance on the traditional 11v11 gameplay and focuses on small-sided street and futsal games. FIFA 20 also features various tweaks on the pitch and off it (see video below for more details). Check out our FIFA 20 Walkthrough and Guide to get some help in the game.
Balanced Team
It is best to select a team that has a balance between speed and strength. Having a versatile team will enable you to vary your tactics so that you are not predictable.
Choose a Passing Team
When selecting a team to play choose one that has a high passing stat in midfield as doing so will help you to maintain possession. A team that is particularly good at this is Barcelona and their 'Tika Taka' style of football.
Forward Pass
When you have possession of the ball don't always look for the forward pass, you will have more success if you play the ball about amongst your players until a situation develops which you can take advantage of.
Slower Play
If you shift to a slower style of play when you have the ball you will find it will help you to maintain possession as doing so will draw your teammates closer to you making passes easier to complete.
Play 5 in Midfield
If you are struggling to maintain possession of the ball you may want to consider playing with 5 in midfield as having an extra player there will overload the middle third of the pitch make keeping possession a lot more easier.
Keep Possession
Do not worry if you are not scoring lots of goals, it is more important that you focus on preventing your opponent from having the ball. Pick your passes correctly, and if you can't see one, go backward. Avoid the temptation of playing the over-the-top ball as this will likely cause you to lose possession.
Don't Pass Amongst the Defense
Avoid passing amongst the defense. The passing game should be played in the middle of the pitch where your objective is to constantly try to create chances to score. The only time you should be passing amongst your defenders is in the final minutes of a game in order to keep the ball away from the opposition and hang onto a one goal lead.
Do Not Run your Defenders Out
Avoid the temptation of charging your defenders out to get the ball from the opponent. Breaking your formation in this way is counterproductive as it leaves huge gaps in your defense that your opponent can pass through.
Fast Center-Backs
Make sure that the team you choose is one with fast center-backs so you can prevent quick strikers from running through or around your slow defenders.
Keep Playing
If you play FIFA 20 a lot you will naturally get better. You will suffer your fair share of defeats to begin with but that is expected. After all, how can you improve if you never lose?
