Fae Farm Fishing Guide

The fishing mini-game in Fae Farm allows you to reel in fish on the island of Azoria in order to either cook or sell. This Fae Farm Fishing Guide will tell you everything you need to know about this mini-game.
It is essential that you know how to fish in Fae Farm as it is a crucial task for quests given to you while in Azoria. Fishing in Fae Farm can be a frustrating experience, let the lure fall too far from the fish, and they won't take the bait, reel the fish at the wrong time, and the line will break. These are some of the things you need to take into consideration to become successful at fishing.
How to Fish
Fishing in Fae Farm is not difficult, you simply have to find a body of water with fish swimming about and swap to your fishing rod using L or R on your Nintendo Switch controller. You cast out your reel by pressing and holding the A button.
Each body of water in Azoria has its type of fish species, they spawn in certain weather conditions, seasons, and locations. Rare fish like Rainbow Trout and Sardine will be signified with a rainbow aura around them.
Before you cast out your reel you need to study the movements of the fish you are trying to catch so you can pinpoint its swimming route. Drop your line before the fish's view to catch its attention. Then jiggle the lure twice to entice the fish to bite the bait.
Once the fish has taken the bait you need to start reeling it back to shore. Press the power button to reel if the fish is facing your way. If the fish is facing the opposite way, stop reeling.
When the fish pulls back and puts up a fight you will notice that your line is red and the fish you've hooked has a red cartoonish struggle emoji above its head. When this happens you need to ease up on the power button for a moment otherwise you risk breaking your line if it gets too tight.
Fae Farm Fishing Basics
There are four basic steps to fishing, select the rod, cast, lure, and reel, this is explained below.
- Select a rod: Make sure you select a rod that is good enough for the fish you want to catch. Higher level rods will make fishing easier.
- Cast your line: When you have found a location and selected your rod, you are read to cast your line out. To do this click and hold to build power depending on how far you want to cast your line out. Max power is indicated by the bobber at the tip of the blue arrow. When you are ready to cast, just release the button.
- Luring the Fish: After you have cast, you can try to attract fish by left clicking to jiggle your line. If you manage to gain the interest of your fishy victim, you know this has happened when he starts to stare at the bobber, jiggle your line a bit more until it bites, then reel him in!
- Reeling it in: Once you have your fish on your hook you play the reeling mini game. To do to this either hold down the left mouse button or the X button if you are playing on Switch to start reeling in the fish. Watch out that you don't break your line though, so you may have to let the fish go sometimes if you are having trouble reeling it in.

Fishing Quests Guide
In the game there are load of job quests, and a whole section is related to fishing quests which are done by Nessa, The Mariner. You can do these fishing quests at a couple of different locations, one is close to her house at the beach and the other is at the Docks near the Town Hall.
Quests are great to do to and the rewards can come in handy too. Here is a rundown of all of the fishing quests that we know about in Fae Farm, how to complete them and what rewards you'll get.

- Fishing Quest 1: Catch some fish in the river and ponds.
Task: Catch 2 freshwater fish.
Reward: Iced Tea
Tip: You'll need to catch the freshwater fish from the pond or the river.
- Fishing Quest 2: Catch fish from the sea.
Task: Catch 2 saltwater fish.
Reward: Fish and Mushroom Soup
Tip: Head to the docks and fish off of one of the piers to catch the saltwater fish.
- Fishing Quest 3: Rainbow trout and sardines are hard to find!
Task: Catch 2 rare fish.
Reward: Small Zoom Potion
Tip: You know if a fish is rare if by whether or not it is glowing. These are the ones you want to hook to complete this task. If you are having trouble, come back to this quest on a sunny day and hit some of the piers.
- Fishing Quest 4: The mystic pools of the Fae Realm are homes to all-new fish.
Task: Catch 2 Fae Realm fish.
Reward; Lucky Potion
Tip: Before you can do this quest you need to actually be able to get to the Fae Realm, this only happens after you have completed Chapter 4 in the game. When you can get to the Fae Realm, all you need to do to complete this quest is to go to the Elven Village, look for where the water is, then catch any two fish from there and take them back home to Nessa.
- Fishing Quest 5: Loach Smelt Smallmouth Bass... but didn't say anything.
Task: Catch 1 rare Fae Realm fish.
Reward: Small Warmth Potion
Tip: You just need to catch 1 rare fish from the Fae Realm. So again, any glowing fish should do as long as it's caught in the Fae Realm.
- Fishing Quest 6: Freezing water makes a cozy home for these high-altitude fish.
Task: Catch 2 mountain fish.
Reward: Medium Warmth Potion
Tip: To be able to do this quest you musty have reached chapter 7 and be able to get to the mountain area. When we tried, we couldn't catch any fish unless it was with the Advanced Rod, so we recommend that you use that to try to complete this quest. You can get it from Eddy the fisherman at this shop. To find the area to fish in the mountains, head east.
- Fishing Quest 7: Asp, pickerel, and black bass don't show themselves often.
Task: Catch 1 rare mountain fish.
Reward: Fish Curry
Tip: In the mountains, with the Advanced Rod catch a rare fish, same as before, just look for a fish that is glowing.
- Fishing Quest 8: - You can't reach these ocean fish from the shore.
Task: Catch 2 deep sea fish.
Reward: Seashore Stew
Tip: Now you'll need to catch a couple of deep sea fish. Find an island to fish from to complete this quest. The quests are starting to get a bit harder now, so if you are having trouble remember to upgrade your rod more if you can and you can also use meals to help too.
Fish Curry for example will help and give you +2 Reeling Power, +2 Sly Angler for 5 hours. To make that, the ingredients you need are: 2 Fish Fillet, 3 Grain Nuggets, 3 Diced Roots. IT just so happens that you got a Fish Curry as a reward for the previous quest, so if you are having trouble here, this may be a good time to use it!
- Fishing Quest 9: Halibut, yellowfin, and sea bass are harder to catch.
Goals: Catch 1 rare deep sea fish.
Reward: Seafood Spaghetti
Tip: Head back to where you caught deep sea fish in the last quest, and look out for a glowing fish and catch that.
- Fishing Quest 10: Eels, squid, and puffers lurk in the same waters as the deep sea fish.
Goals: Catch 2 seafood creatures.
Reward: Deep Ocean Wallpaper Recipe
Tip: These can be a little hard to find, you are better off at a beach somewhere, ideally from an island in the sea. Again, consider using Fish Curry to temporarily improve your chances and make sure you have the best rod that you have access to from Eddy the Fisherman.
- Fishing Quest 11: The eel, the spotted puffer, and the great Humboldt squid will test your skills.
Goals: Catch 1 rare seafood creatures.
Reward: Mariner Hat
Tip: Same as the previous quest, but this time you are looking for a seafood creature that is glowing.
Deep Sea Fishing
In order to catch some fish such as, Halibut, Yellowfin, Sea Bass, Tuna, Albacore, Lingcod and Anglerfish you'll need to head into the deep sea, to do this. You may need to get your fairy wings before you can access deep sea fishing. It's usually best to try to head towards an island to work on the deep sea fishing quests.
