Introduction

Well, it's been a long wait, but it's finally time to go and get the Lionhead epic, Fable II. You may be wondering: is it worth it? Well, in someways yes, and in other ways no. However, the pros outweigh the cons by a mile in this epic, and it's large open world will have you hunting down gargoyles, demon doors, silver keys, and other goodies for a long time. So sit back, relax, and listen to shit tale loony has to tell you.

This is Fable II.

Graphics

Now, if you've seen any sort of trailers for this game, you know how beautiful the graphics look. Let me tell you, they don't disappoint. Yes, they look a little cartoony, but this game is called FABLE for god's sake! The non interactive cutscenes are very few in this game, but the graphics look absolutely fantastic during those brief breaks. You'll be watching blood spill from your foes in of the the most graphically appealing games on the Xbox 360.

Sound

Another category that I really just can't complain in. The music was very well orchestrated and works into the gameplay and battles very nicely for one thing. Every time you go into battle, you'll get a cool little battle tune to pump you up while you're opening a can of whoop ass on those bad guys. The voice acting was also fantastic, and even the actor who played Professor McGonagle from the Harry Potter movies is in this cast. You'll be treated to some awesome stuff, so don't worry about this section. The screams and sounds of pain and swords clanging is also very appealing. My only complain here is that they could've done a little more of these fun sounds and music. I felt cut short at a point.

Gameplay

After two tens in a row, this may be shocking to you all out there. "What? Is loony insane? Why is he giving the gameplay, the things that he's been looking forward to for ages a nine?" Well, it's because I'm ushering in story. While the plot pretty good in itself, not to put out any spoilers, the motivation, similar to Fable I's, is pretty standard, and the ending was pretty lame in terms of story and in terms of gameplay itself. But other than this, the game is fantastic in terms of game play. Let me begin with combat. Combat has gotten a serious overhaul since the last Fable. No longer to you need to cycle through a list of spells, or manually switch between your range and close range weapons. Your melee and range each have an assigned button in this game. Y for ranged, and X for melee. With this, you can be having a nice melee fight and deicide to whip out your pistol or rifle and hit them from point blank with no pause to switch weapons. He has the melee away and his ranged out in less then a second, making it very easy to incorporate all three hero disciplines, Strength, Skill and Will, into your one hero. Magic has also gotten an overhaul, for the better. You now pre select your spells and charge them to go to higher levels, setting different ones to lower and higher levels. You can also either target a specific enemy with a spell, or you can always choose to smash the spell into the ground, hurting all enemies around you. Fable II gets an overhaul in other places too. The world is much, much bigger than the original Fable, and you no longer have to go all the way back to the heros guild to upgrade each of you skills, you can do it on the fly. The dog is a nice addition too, as a companion, and someone to sniff out buried and hidden treasures. I never really noticed him helping in combat other than when he bites people after I've knocked them to the ground. And the whole choice thing that was sucked from us in Fable I is back with a vengeance. Choice can actually greatly impact how your hero looks and how the world around him or her develops such as investing money in a guy who gave you a quest earlier. When you come back later, he's used the gold you've given him and tripled it, as well as turning a rundown bandit town into a high class town. You're defiantly going to have some awesome fun with this game.

Lastability

I'm not sure how 10 out of 10 is for this one. I just finished the game, and it was longer than Fable I by quite a bit, but note enough for a ten. But there are tons of side quests to do, gargoyles to find and shoot, demon doors to find and open, and a whole interactive world to explore! Even after the end of the game, you can make a family, buy property, and live the life of a hero despite the bad ending. You'll be glued to this game for quite some time, and you'll like every moment of it. (Other than the ending.)

Overall

What else left is there to say? Lionhead took Fable and made it even better, that's for sure. The combat is amazing and great fun, the graphics are simply amazing, the sound is really good. If you're not sure if you want to buy this, then look at my score, and look at other scores. The lowest score are around 8.5's, and even they can't find too much to hate. I can't promise that you'll like every second of this, but you'll defiantly like it, so make sure you pick this monster of a title up, and pat Lionhead on the back the next time you see them.

Final Score: 96%
