You'll be fighting almost all the time to progress in DBXV and your Combat experience may be affected by several factors like your Custom Character's race, gender, equipment, skill sets, etc. However, one thing is certain; you have to know know the major points of the combat system and how to improve them based on your fighting style.

First, let's discuss the attributes or stats. There are six attributes in the game:

Guide Image

  • Health
  • Ki
  • Stamina
  • Basic Attacks
  • Strike Supers
  • Ki Blast Supers

When you're creating your character, the race and gender you selected may affect your initial stats. These stats can be further increased by spending Skill Points. You get 3 SP per level up. If you're having problems defeating an enemy, try leveling up, getting better equipment that augments your powerful stats, and get more powerful skills.

Health

This is the overall health of the fighters in the game. The higher the health, the more damage a character can take before having the need to use a recovery item. Most of the time, getting depleted completely will result to a failure in a mission. If you have allies however, you'll only get knocked out . Your allies can revive you to get you back on your feet with a portion of HP left. You can still provide unique assists to them while knocked down; you just need to lock on to your nearest ally and press Circle. You can also revive your allies if needed.

Ki

Ki is the fighter's energy. This allows him/her to use powerful attacks such as Ki Blasts (projectile or energy beam attacks), Strikes (powerful melee attacks and combos), and Ultimate Attacks (special moves that deal heavy damage). Ki is essential to every fighter. Some races are adept in using Ki Blasts while others use Ki to perform melee strikes. Ki recovers a bit over time but it recovers faster if you're attacking.

Stamina

Stamina is the gauge below the Ki gauge. This allows you to use "Vanish" or a teleport move that will take you behind your opponent. This can be used if you're caught in an enemy's combo or during your own combo to strike the enemy from behind. This gauge also determines the strength of your guard. If your stamina is low and you endured further attacks while guarding, you'll experience "Guard Break" which will stun your character temporarily, leaving you open for further attacks. Stamina recovers automatically over time. The higher your stamina, the more you times you can use Vanish or the longer you can hold your guard. Evasive Skills (skills used to escape an enemy barrage or interrupt their movements) also use Stamina.

Watch the video bellow for more information.

Vanish and Guard

Basic Attacks

These are your normal attacks. You need to land these attacks to build up Ki and of course to leave your opponent's guard open through combos. Fluid combos will allow you to connect your skill attacks, especially more powerful Super Attacks.

Strike Supers

Strike Supers are powerful skills that execute ferocious combos or solid, powerful strikes. Races like Saiyans are adept with Strike Supers. Since they have to be executed at close range in order to make them land, players need to unleash a flurry of basic attacks before using Strike Supers to effectively deal damage.

Ki Blast Supers

Ki Blast Supers are the energy projectile / beam counterpart of Strike Supers. Ki Blast Supers excel in damage and range, capable of hitting enemies at long range.
