Downhill Smash Beginners Tips and Tricks
Downhill Smash Beginners Tips and Tricks

Listed below are several Beginners Tips and Tricks which will help you in Downhill Smash.

Learn How the Boulder Works

In Downhill Smash you control a boulder which allows you to barrel down the mountainside, mowing down zombies and chopping them to pieces with the miniature axes built within its body. Your first priority in the game is to familiarize yourself with how this boulder works. The controls are relatively simple, you travel by holding down on the screen and letting go of the screen slows the boulder down. Slowing the boulder down can be useful in certain situations but is something you will not want to do too often as you will risk getting caught in the landslide which ends the game if it engulfed you. The boulder is also able to jump, which comes in handy when you encounter an excessive amount of zombies, buildings, and other objects in your way. Your goal is to use the boulder to survive and the further you can go the more rewards you will earn.

Conserve Fuel

Sicing and dicing zombies and debris as you roll down the mountainside will only get you so far in Downhill Smash. To get really far is a matter of skill, which sometimes means taking your finger off the screen and letting gravity take control. When you release your finger from the screen as your boulder falls from a great height or rolls down hill you will build momentum and activate your Release weapon, more importantly you will conserve fuel. Take a look at our How to get Free Boosters and Bonuses guide to find out how you can get them through watching video advertisements.

Upgrade your Boulder

In order to increase the efficiency of your boulder, you should prioritize certain upgrades over others. The most important upgrade is Fuel, after you have upgraded it a couple of times, your boulder will be assisted by a fuel drone that will appear when it runs out. The number of fuel drones you have available is indicated by a number by the boulder's fuel gauge on the upper right every time you go downhill. The second upgrade you should focus on is Damage which indicates the sharpness of the miniature axes covering your boulder's exterior and how effective they will be at slicing up the zombies. If Damage is not upgraded, the zombies you mow down will remain alive and attached to your boulder, this will slow it down considerably. Another essential upgrade for your boulder is Mass as the more mass means more momentum, which results in the zombies and buildings having a more difficult time trying to stop you. Engine, Coin Fabricater, and Jump are also important but not quite as much.

Choose a Balanced Loadout

The boulder in Downhill smash is a piece of state-of-the-art machinery that can be customized to make it a mobile fortress. It has compartments that can house an array of weapons, which will keep it safe from zombies and help it to smash through obstacles in its way. It is recommended that you choose a versatile loadout for your boulder that you feel comfortable with, this means picking one weapon from each of the three categories. If your boulder has a balanced loadout, you will be able to clear the way while you are accelerating and while you are letting your momentum move you. There are three ways in which to activate the weapons you select, they are listed below.

Hold - This weapon activates while you are holding your finger on the screen.

Release – When you release your finger from the screen, the weapon activates.

Auto – This weapon fires at fixed intervals and does not require any manual activation.

Purchase New Weapons and Upgrade Old Ones

Your boulder will function more effectively when you purchase new weapons and upgrade them as much possible. There are plenty of weapons on offer for your boulder in Downhill Smash, these include machine guns, electric bolts, spikes, and bombs. The weapons you select for your loadout should be those that best suits the way you play. Buy new weapons that you can afford, so you are able to diversify your loadouts. Upgrade your old weapons to the max, so they are on par with their more sophisticated counterparts until you are able to unlock more powerful versions of them later on. It is essential that you do this, as the zombies and buildings will become stronger as you progress in the game. Make sure you don't forget to upgrade the boulder itself, otherwise you will find the weapons will be useless if you constantly find yourself running out of fuel.
