In my opinion, the game is great. It's quite time-consuming, as we have relic challenges and ghost records to keep us busy in the game, and there are some mysteries that make the game more exciting, such as the N.Oxide mystery (to learn more check out my report in the pinned CTR forum topic) and another recent mystery named the Super Spring. Really good game.
I found the graphics to be very good for the year in which it was made. You'd think there to be a two-dimensional cubed character driving a square kart through the game and beating other cubic rivals (lol) and finally succeeding in the quest to get a cubed epilogue. But I can see that some of this game's graphics oversee those of modern PS2 games.
I really liked the sounds. Some of my personal favourites are the boss fights and world themes. It makes me never want to turn off the audio. I think it's awesome and that Naughty Dog should come up with a CTR soundtrack. It would sell quite well, I think.
I loooove this game, and the gameplay is one of the reasons why. It's a long, wide adventure with so much you have to do. I don't know about you, but I'd say at minimum it would take six days of about twelve hours a day to beat this game, excluding the Oxide ghosts, which would add another two days at least.
The lastability is great. Perhaps it could take a good week or two to finish entirely, if you were playing on a regular basis. The Oxide ghosts require a large quantity of your time, as do the platinum relics. Getting those is considered a miracle. Perhaps you could get bored of it, but only after a few good weeks of gameplay.
The game is great. It's a challenge, involves a great deal of time (which I like) and improves your racing skills (try go-karting after a week of CTR). I couldn't say a ten because of the slight repetitiveness in the game. But it should keep you busy, and I recommend it to any Crash fan or anime racing lover.
