How to Steal the Divine Comedy

In Chinatown Detective Agency Rupert Zhou is a shadowy figure. He's a fixer for some of Singapore's most powerful men and women and part of his case will call upon you to infiltrate a legal group. To do this you will have to cross their initiation check: Stealing a vintage copy of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy from a library. This requires cracking a book puzzle in the library that calls for a fair bit of literary knowledge. This How to Steal the Divine Comedy guide will give you the solutions.

In order to activate the book puzzle you need to go to the library inside Temasek University in Toa Payoh between midnight and 6 AM and interact with one of the bookcases on the right side of the library. It is recommended that you arrive there as close to midnight as possible to give yourself the maximum amount of time to solve the puzzle before the morning-shift guards turn up at 6 AM.

When you interact with the bookcase you will have the choice of picking out one of fifteen books. The book you pull will depend on the clue you were provided with. Listed below are each of the clues along with the book they correspond to. Make sure you choose the correct book because if after three attempts you pull out the wrong one you will end the game.

Clue 5: Miaoyu

Reference to Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin.

The bookcase holding the Divine Comedy will unlock once you have pulled every book correctly, and you will be able to acquire it. Now book it back to your office in Chinatown to bring the case to an end.
