6 New Pokemon, 5 New Forms Released For Pokemon Sun & Moon

The next big scoop of information has just been released for Pokemon Sun & Moon, and, boy, was it an enormous release. From 6 New Pokemon to 5 New Forms to Riding Pokemon to what will be called Z-Crystals to Trail Captains, there was a lot covered in this five minute video! Let's begin with the Six New Pokemon: Oricorio, Minior, Gumshoos, Formantis, Lurantis and Mudbray.

Oricorio resembles a bird, and it has for different forms with different typing. It can be Fire/Flying, Electric/Flying, Psychic/Flying or Ghost/Flying, with the ability known as Dancer. With this ability, Oricorio will copy any Dance Moves (like Swords Dance) when the opponent uses them.

Minior is a Rock/Flying Type Pokemon with the ability called Shields Down, which gives Minior incredible defensive capabilities until it's below 50% HP. Once this happens, Minior loses its outer shell and the defensive stats along with it. However, it will instead now be better suited for attacking.

Formantis and Lurantis are the next evolution chain released to the Alola Region, both having the ability of Leaf Guard. Both are pure Grass Types, and know the new move of Solar Blade.

The final two new Pokemon are Gumshoos and Mudbray, two evolutions for Pokemon already released. Gumshoos is the evolution for Yungoos, and can have the abilities of Stakeout or Strong Jaw. Mudbray is the pre-evolution of Mudsdale, being a Ground Type Pokemon with the abilities of Own Tempo or Stamina.

The next concept released was what will be called Alola Forms, different forms for older generation Pokemon found in the Alola Region (these are not Mega Evolutions). These forms give the Pokemon new typing and abilities, being their forms on the different given islands of Alola. Five Kanto Pokemon were the first to receive an Alola Form: Exeggutor, Vulpix, Ninetales, Sandshrew and Sandslash.

Alola Exeggutor will become a Grass/Dragon Pokemon with the ability of Frisk, while Alola Vulpix and Ninetales will be Ice and Ice/Fairy Types, respectively, with the ability of Snow Cloak. Alola Sandshrew and Sandslash will both become Ice/Steel Type Pokemon, each, again, with the Snow Cloak ability.

And finally, the concepts of Riding Pokemon, Z-Crystals and Trail Captains were shown and described. Riding Pokemon has existed since the Sixth Generation, and it will continue with new Pokemon like Charizard, Stoutland and Mega Sharpedo.

Z-Crystals and Z-Moves are a brand new concept being incorporated into the Pokemon series. Z- Moves utilize a special bracelet the trainer has, called a Z-Ring. The Z-Ring can be fitted with a variety of different Z-Crystals, and if the corresponding Pokemon in battle has the same Z-Crystal and same Move Typing of such as the trainer's Z-Crystal, the Pokemon can perform their Z-Move. Z-Moves hold an immense amount of power.

Lastly, trainers will also be able to challenge certain designated characters called Trail Captains. These trainers specialize in a given type of Pokemon, and after defeating each trainer, a player will face a Pokemon called a Totem Pokemon. Said Totem Pokemon can then call on Wild Pokemon to help it in battle with you.

It was one heck of release, one with a boatload of new information! But what are you thoughts about it? Do you like the new Pokemon? How about the new Alola Forms? How do you think Z-Moves will affect gameplay?
