Our Favourite 5 Street Fighter V Characters

Hadouken! Iconic beat 'em up video game series Street Fighter is almost thirty years old and shows no signs of fatigue. After selling more than thirty-six million copies, its publisher Capcom' s- the second largest franchise after Resident Evil - has not only stood the test of time, it's now a cultural phenomenon. From comics to dodgy B-movies and plush toys, this series' huge success isn't down to its razor sharp controls but the impressive selection of characters. Street Fighter 5 features 16 characters, 4 of whom are completely new to the series.

Well, let's take a look at the favourite five street fighter 5 characters. This is not the be-all, end-all list of characters but rather, a list of five characters that have spiced things up the most.

1. Birdie.

Birdie first appeared in the original Street Fighter that war released 1987. Then, Birdie sported a was a very intimidating fighter who sported a leather vest and a Mohawk. Birdie didn't reappear in the game's highly successful sequel, Street Fighter II but we was present in Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha iteration and Street Fighter IV.

Birdie returns in street fighter 5 and with his unique look and strong, punishing style is one of its greatest additions. Completely redesigned, he has gone up a bit weight wise, and is currently SF5's top comedy character. but don't let this fool you, his damage on early tests and the beta is very high and though he's hard to get going with, if he hits you, you will know about it.

Birdie also, is a nice combination of characters Zangief and Balrog. He has powerful grappling attacks which charge across the screen in a similar way to Balrog's charging punches. This's not to say that Birdie should replace these characters, but he is the perfect mix you won't get in any other character.

2. Rainbow Mika.

When someone talks about “that great wrestler in Street Fighter,” bear-wrestler Zangief or the Giant rip off Hugo will probably be the first characters popping up on your mind, but lady luchador Rainbow Mika deserves a place on this list, too.

Another character returning from the street fighter Alpha, this pig-tailed grappler managed breaking the “fighting-game wrestler” mold. She is not big, she is not slow, she is not male, and she does not play like traditional grappler characters. With a killer flying butt-attack and various grapple attacks you can rely on, R. Mika means a lot for the Street Fighter universe.

This very popular member of the street fighter 5 cast is extremely powerful. Her grabs do lots of damage (they look incredible too). Her mix up potential with VTrigger is very real and she has an odd set of normal moves which if well-mastered, cover a wide range of possibilities. However If Mika could just take a little dressing advice from Karin, we would be gravy.

3. M. Bison

M. Bison has appeared in almost all Street Fighter games A would-be megalomaniac and world dictator; he rules the Far East country, Mriganka with an iron fist. His has an ultimate ambition of controlling all world governments alongside his covert crime syndicate Shadaloo.

Several characters—including T. Hawk, Guile, Cammy, Chun-Li and Rose have personal vendettas against him and have entered this tournament in the hope of personally facing him. Bison makes a great villain especially because of his numerous individual rivalries. He has wronged very many people at a personal level to an almost irredeemable point. Such is the notoriety he brings to Street Fighter 5.

4. Karin Kanzuki.

Karin Kanzuki, Sakura's eternal rival is one of the best characters in the Street fighter 5 video series. Karin made her debut on Street Fighter Alpha 3 as the rival to fellow school goer Sakura and other than brief appearances in a few side games, has not been seen since.

The only daughter of a rich corporate family, she dismissive and snobbish, calling almost everyone around her "commoner". Her parents are Nadeshiko Kanzuki and Daigenjūrō Kanzuki. Karin has a muscular butler called Ishizaki and another employee called Shibazaki. To honor the family motto, "Be the winner of everything", she travels all around the world with the aim of tracking down and defeating Sakura.

Her fighting style is reminiscent of Fei Long as she is famous for throwing rush down punches. However, she is capable of alternating between low and high attacks at the middle, and this is great for people who love keeping their opponents guessing what way to block.

Her V-Skill is Meioken which consists of a fireball parry and knock down attack which varies in strength depending on what it connects with. It can also be changed to give it better timings and hit boxes. Her V-Trigger is Kanzuki-Ryu Guren No Kata, which consists of her signature long string of attacks. she is capable of making a combo of the first part to a great number of follow-ups. Her Critical Art is Kanzuki Ryu Hadorokushiki which is a series of strikes which, if successful, end with cinematic final hits for massive damage.

In very popular character polls leading up to Street Fighter Five's announcement Karim came out top in Japan as the number one person people love in this game.

5. Ken.

Ken is one of the legendary faces of Street Fighter and is actually one of its most popular characters. As one of the main characters, Ken has appeared in almost all Street Fighter versions alongside his rival, Ryu. Just like Ryu, he plans to test his power against different fighters, and strives very hard to get stronger.

He is one Street Fighter classics and is among the few characters we highly doubt this game would have made it through the gate without. Ken has gone through a bit a makeover and design change since the Street Fighter 4 days. He is all about combos now and looks pretty effective, just like a total monster if in the hands of an experienced gamer.

Ken has often gotten recognition as one of the best characters in Street Fighter. IGN ranked him at number 6 in their article "Top 25 Street Fighter Characters". Anyway, can you imagine a Street Fighter game without Ken? Perhaps, but probably it still would not be the same.
