The Top 10 Best Movie Depictions of Video Games

09. Game Rage - Telling it Like it Really Is

There is a huge gulf between how Hollywood depicts gamers and how they really are, so that you can always tell when a director or screenwriter is a gamer, and when the director / screenwriter behind a film is not.

One of the most annoying depictions of game play behavior in movies is the 'everyone gets along' nice gaming image.

Sure, it's player-vs-player, and sure, there is some healthy - but very polite - argument, but everyone knows that gamers never get angry and, if they do, never at the game itself, always at each other, right?

When they do become angry it is always reasonable anger with reasonable language - what you might call G-Rated smack talk... Because in the movies every gamer is a sugar-sweet 12-year-old or an adult who has a 12-year-old living inside of him.

Everyone knows that gamers never cheat, and get along like peas and carrots. And that is why this brutally honest and entirely accurate depiction of a typical gaming session argument in the film Swingers struck a chord with audiences all over the world.

The film finally depicts the cold gray reality of gamers and gaming - the total lack of respect, smack talk that actually IS smack talk, and the bad choices that all gamers make at some point in their gaming career are just a starting point.

If you are going to tell the truth it may as well be the literal truth - the only thing that this scene is missing is the primary character rage-quitting - which they really should have and probably would have if the delivery boy had not shown up!
