What are Crafting Materials?

Crafting materials are basically the raw items that are required to create Furniture and Amenities for your camp. Basically, these animal friends whom you'd want to stay at your camp will initially need or want something to be in your camp before they decide to be there indefinitely (or as long as you want them to be). In order to obtain such items in the game, you will of course have to craft them from scratch. In the game, crafting materials are currently used to create furniture and amenities -- although (supposedly) in a latter update in the game (hopefully soon), you'll also be able to use them to craft clothing for your character as well. This is in return should give everyone the chance to add a personal touch to their game characters.

How to obtain Crafting Materials:

Rewarded by your Animal Friends

The most common way to obtain crafting materials is by taking on quests requested by your animal friends. When you successfully deliver to their little requests, they usually hand you some form of reward. From the get go, you'll get a few items at a time (every time you complete a request), but as your friendship level with these animals increase, so will the number of the items increase, or sometimes they will give you something new. Most of the common crafting materials can be obtained by simply taking on quest from any animal.

Some items though, you'll only get from specific animals. For instance, if you require "Preserves", you'll probably want to do tasks for bird friends like "Jay", or bull friends like "Angus" as these two types are the only ones that reward this item.

And then there are also the Essences. Essences can only be acquired from animals which prefer the same category of Furniture. For example, if an animal prefers sporty furniture, it will basically mean that he/she only rewards "sporty essence".

We've listed a guide chart below listing which type (of animal) gives a particular material as reward for taking on their requests.

Paper:

Charlise (sporty)

Stella (cute)

Apollo (cool)

Avery, Vesta (rustic)

Preserves:

Jay (sporty)

Angus (cool)

Steel:

Antonio, Butch, Cheri, Flip, Peewee (sporty)

Beau, Eloise, Fauna, Goldie (natural)

Bluebear, Carrie, Ketchup (cute)

Cherry, Kyle, Phoebe, Roscoe, Sandy (cool)

Drake, June, (rustic)

Wood:

Other than doing requests, you may also earn crafting materials as "Gifts" from animals. To receive gifts from animals, simply tap on them and pick the second option to talk/speak with them. As your friendship level with animal grows, the more likely they will give you gifts, and more quantities of it. Below is a short list of the crafting materials given as gifts by animals, and which animal type usually gives it.

Crafting Material: Type of Animals (that usually give them as "gifts")

Cotton: Pig, Penguin, Lion, Hippo

Paper: Eagle, Goat, Bear

Preserves: Bird, Bull

Steel: Dog, Duck, Horse, Wolf, Kangaroo, Cub, Deer, Gorilla, Monkey, Elephant, Ostrich

Wood: Cat,Rabbit,Squirrel, Hamster, Frog, Alligator

Additional Ways to earn Crafting Materials:

Request ticket

It is basically the same with earning them as rewards for doing requests from animals. Although it is important to know that by default, every animal friend have limited number of favors to ask you in a day. Unless you have a request ticket, you can't force these animals to ask you for any more quests until the following day in the game. Moreover, you only get to use it for a maximum of three times per day on a single friend. Although it isn't easy to obtain Request Tickets, using them is a great way to maximize what you could do in a day, as well as pump up your relationship with the animal.

Rewarded from achieving Goals (Stretch and Timed Goals)

Some crafting items are also rewarded when achieving specific goals in the game. More often though, you would'nt even have to try so hard to hit these goals. Although if you are fixed on doing so, simply check the list of Goals to see what needs to be done to earn them as reward.

Rewarded from Shovelstrike Quarry

Given that every player gets a limited try on the Shovelstrike Quarry, means that the stuff that you actually earn there are of great value and importance, and oftentimes, you also can a handful of crafting materials from there. Take note that you'll usually need to spend Leaf Tickets in order to enter the Shovelstrike Quarry.

Common items to earn in the Shovelstrike Quarry includes: Sparkle Stones, Friend Powder, Steel, Cotton, Paper, Wood, Cool Essence, Cute Essence, Sporty Essence, Natural Essence, Rustic Essence.
