Catching bugs is another iconic activity in all Animal Crossing games, and one of many things you can enjoy doing in this game as well. Performing this activity usually reward you with (of course the bug themselves) a Craft material, or bugs that you may opt to sell (for Bells). Some of your animal friends also tend to request them from time to time. To catch a bug, you should equip your net first before trying to approach them. However, you should also be cautios as some bugs tend to be aggressive when they see you equipped with a catching net. To perform this activity, simply visit the "Sunburst Island".

Beetles

Beetles are basically found on trees in Sunburst Island. Walking cautiously and not being too close from their proximity is the key to catch them. Getting too close to them will make them run away. Tap on the beetle itself to perform a "catch", and then tap again when you see the "!" icon. Be quick to respond to the game when it asks you to tap when "!" icon pops-up. The second you're late, you'll miss the chance to catch the bug and will make it run away. Note that the more rare the type of bug you try to catch, the harder it is to actually catch it. Nonetheless, you may also try to use honey to catch a lot of them at a time.

Butterflies

Butterflies can also be spotted flying around the entire Sunburst Island. If you are equipped with a net, they would automatically run away from you whenever you get very near them. So be wary of your proximity whenever you are equipped with a net. Tap on the butterfly to perform a "catch", and then tap again when you see the "!" icon. Be quick to respond to the game when it asks you to tap when "!" icon pops-up. The second you're late, you'll miss the chance to catch the butterfly and will make it fly away. Note that the more rare the type of butterfly you try to catch, the harder it is to actually catch it. Oftentimes, butterflies are rather easy to catch that you actually don't even need for the "!" icon to pop-up before catching it. Although rarer ones might be a tad bit more difficult to catch.

Honey

For 15 Leaf Tickets, you can speed up the process of catching bugs with the use of Honey. Honey is like a consumable item that you can only use once (per bought honey). Using it to catch bugs will earn you multiple catch at a time. Also, there are two types honey to use in bug-catching as well. Their variety mainly dictates which types of bugs will have more in one trap. If you are inclined in catching beetles, you may want to use "beetle honey", why using "flutter honey" w‎ill get you more butterflies in the trap.
