Time Traveling

The game is tied to the 3DS’s internal clock which allows it to unfold in many ways possible, depending on the time of the day and even the season. Players have different lifestyles which will allow them to play the game in different times of the day. This trick is very helpful in adjusting the time as the player sees fit. This feature is simple; you simply have to save your game, access the 3DS system settings and adjust the date/ time. Take note not to abuse this feature too much since it will make weeds grow faster, turnips will get affected and residents may leave.

Advantages:

Set the date into the future: This is useful for shuffling the shop inventories, immediately accessing completed house expansions, projects or fast-forwarding time to catch up with an event.

Adjust Day / Night cycle: This is important since shops open by day (except the T&T convenience store) and some of the game’s wildlife appear only at night. One good example is changing the time manually to evening and traveling to the Tropical Island. At night, you’ll find some of the rarest, best bugs. To sell them for a good amount, you ought to adjust the time again to Re Tail’s operating hours.

Rewind Date/Time: If you missed an important event or anything that requires an action in the past, you can always adjust the date / time as needed.

Seasons: Be careful when adjusting time in longer periods of time as it will severely affect your residents. It is known that some fish and bugs are only available during certain times of the year so using this trick will allow you to capture them without waiting for the real-life dates to come.

Disadvantages:

• Weeds will grow faster, flowers may die and planted trees may disappear.

• Some residents will leave. If not, they’ll most likely forget you if you don’t interact with them more often.

• Turnips will immediately be affected and die instantly.

• Your mailbox may get cramped and will prevent you from receiving more mails.

• Your house will get infested with cockroaches.
