So basically if you get on a mount with poop studs turned on and you press the ability button on a mount it will, you guess it, poop out studs that you can collect. This is really great if you want to get easy studs by just mashing a button

Cheat codes not working on 3ds.

I *think* you first have to unlock/find the red brick that contains the ability you want to use the cheat code for, and then the code will give you the ability for free (instead of having to pay for it). Haven't tried this yet, but I'm assuming that's how it works!

How do you use a characiter

To buy characters, you have to wander around middle earth, you will find them where they belong (Ex. King of the dead - Dunharrow). It will tell you to press a button when you are near them. Evil characters will attack and you have to attack back before buying them.
To use/select a character, hold C (Wii nunchuck) and go to the bottom of the circle of characters where the blank character is. The entire list of characters should be there.
