Quite possibly the hardest "Mode" of DMC4 is the Bloody Palace. Taking you
through 90 levels of pure and utter chaos without your mommy to hold your
hand and comfort you, your only hope for survival is to hack and slash
with both style and speed on your trek to become the King of the Palace.

I myself am not very good at the Bloody Palace, but I will post an
in depth-guide based on various information that I've found (with credit)
on various message boards and forums into one place, to hopefully ease your
pain while traversing this bloody palace. (Hah pun) Moving on...

I don't normally put a table of contents in my FAQ's but for this one, I'm
pretty sure it will be lengthy so I will make one for this as I go along.

Bloody Palace Explained [BPEXX]

The Bloody Palace is basically a times survival mode that
consists of 101 levels, each increasing with difficulty. The difficulty
increase can either be through more mobs, higher health, or a boss fight.
Boss fights occur every 20 levels, plus the 101st level where you have to
fight Dante (Dante vs. Dante?!?! IMPOSTER!).

NO CHECKPOINTS, NO SAVES, NO ITEMS O_O

In order to unlock Bloody Palace, you must first beat Devil Hunter mode. By
no means however does this mean you are CAPABLE of doing well in Bloody
Palace once you have unlocked it.

Basic Prerequisites:

-A Full Health Bar

     This is a quintessential part of being in Bloody Palace. Unless you
     have no life at all, are some sort of gaming genius, or just very,
     very, very, very lucky; A full health bar is reccomended before
     getting in here.

-A Full Devil Trigger Guage

     This helps you out 3 ways. Firstly it helps you get style points faster.
     Second, it helps you kill things a lot faster than normal, thereby
     helping you progress faster. Most importantly (!!!!) however, is this is
     your secondary source of health. The only mobs that give health orbs
     in bloody palace are Scarecrows (Very rarely), Chimeras (Rarely), and
     Gladiuses (Commonly). And even then, these only give you one or 2 bars
     of health per mob that drops, so having DT is VERY important.

-Skill sets

     The skills you use directly impact your style points, and therefore
     your chances of survival and beating the clock. The skills that you
     know and want to learn are entirely up to you. The only thing that
     I would absolutely reccomend is having a full Style Skillset for Dante
     (Which you should easily get, only about 50k orbs), and the MAX-Act
     Skill for Nero which is very important to have and master for BP since
     this affects your style points as well.

This being a timed survival mode, time is a crucial part of being able to
progress through the very end. You get time bonuses for various things
in the game anywhere from what moster you kill, how high of a style rank you
had when you killed them, wether you got hit or not, and various other things
I will outline in the Timing is Everything section.

Now onto the meat and potatoes! (Or fish if you prefer.)

--------------------------------------------------------------

TIMING IS EVERYTHING! [TIEXX]

This section will explain the time mechanics of the game, how to get better
time bonuses and other various hints.

When you first get in the stage, you will start off with 2'00'00 (2 mins)
on the clock. This immediately starts counting down as the first set of
demons are summoned. You get time bonuses as you progress depending on style
and what moster you've killed. The following is a list of time bonuses that
each monster gives you (In order of appearance).

========================================================
Demon Time Bonus List ---------------------------[DTBXX]
========================================================

Scarecrow                   +5 Seconds
Frost                      +10 Seconds
Bianco Angelo +10 seconds (White Angel)
Mephisto                   +10 seconds
Gladius                     +2 seconds
Chimera (Un-attached)       +2 Seconds
Chimera (Attached) +XX Seconds (Depends on host)
Assault                    +10 seconds
Mega Scarecrow             +15 Seconds
Faust                      +20 seconds
Alto Angelo +20 seconds (Gold Angel)
Basilisk                    +5 seconds
Blitz +30 seconds (LoL @ Bonus)

========================================================
--------------------------------------------------------
========================================================

Now, that you have a general Idea of how you are timed for each demon,
just take that into account with how you kill each mob (I played WoW so
I call demons either monsters, mobs, or demons). I would suggest going
through Son of Sparda mode or even Dante Must Die mode to see if you can
achieve kill times LESS than the bonus given. This is essential to beating
BP, now granted, you will be in situations sometimes where you are thrown
on the ground, or grabbed or whatnot, wasting valuable time. But in general,
you should be able to kill each mob, on a 1v1 scenario, under the bonus time
that they give. If you can do this, a third of the battle is done.

Secondly you get bonuses for your style and speed and survivability aspects
of gameplay. You get these after every kill (Style bonuses) and at the end
of each level. The following are the bonuses you get for each aspect:

========================================================
Style/Stage Bonus List --------------------------[SBLXX]
========================================================

Style Ranks:

 SSS - B Rank Bonus +3 Seconds (Per Kill)
 C Rank Bonus +2 Seconds (Per Kill)
 B Rank Bonus +1 Second (Per Kill)

Stage Bonuses:

 Stage Clear
  Stage 1-19 +15 Seconds (At last kill)
  Stage 21-101 +10 Seconds (At last kill)
  No Damage 2x Stage Clear Bonus

========================================================
--------------------------------------------------------
========================================================

As you can see, it is not essential to get higher than a B rank style, however
it is still reccommended as if you get hit, you will have leeway to rank down
instead of ranking from B to D. The ranking bonuses may seem small, but they
definitely help with the mass killing missions (e.g. 9x Chimera Seeds or 44
Bianco Angelos O.O). The No Damage bonus is exactly like the regular game
where ANY hit that deals damage (Royal Block is the only exception) will
forfeit the bonus.

[Note: You ARE allowed to use Super Nero or Super Dante to clear the BP. This
       is by no means a bad way to go if you want to see the whole Palace
       as a whole. However score wise, you only receive 1/5th of your normal
       score. IE. if you were to get 100,000 as a score, you would only get
       20,000 instead. It is a BIG deduction so keep that in mind when
       choosing who to use.]

Now to the fun part...

---------------------------------------------------------------

General overview for this section. Out of the 101 stages, the breakdown in

Well that took forever to compile and organize. Now a few notes on several of
the stages. By any means any stage is beatable, never think otherwise. All you
need is the right technique and a little bit of luck. Also keep in mind the
order you kill the monsters. For example, towards the beginning, you're faced
with 9x Chimera Seeds as well as 3x Scarecrows. Although you have less
Scarecrows to kill, it would be wiser to take care and immobilize the Seeds
quickly so that you don't end up with a harder full grown chimera to deal with
and thereby giving you less time bonus (1 kill instead of 2). Going through
each stage is laborious and doesn't really work for everyone, so just look at
the Mob Listing for each stage and figure out a tactic that works well with
your style of play.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the biggest thing is to use your DT wisely. Keep in mind that you gain
DT by hitting mobs, so unused DT is wasted DT. Wasted DT is wasted health.
As you play BP, the more and more you play it, the more you know when you
need to use DT to gain health, get speed kills, in relation to when you have
an easy time killing things without getting hit. This is probobly the biggest
part of succeeding in BP and is brought on solely by intuition and experience.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that might benefit you is some tips and tricks on beating
certain monsters quickly and efficiently, to get the most out of your time.
The next section will cover exactly that :D

All these achievemtns take is a little perseverance. After a few times in

redo them with a normal character so now you have a feel for the flow of
the stages.

Just keep on truckin' guys. Beat those japs on the leaderboards!!
