Question for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I am having trouble with one of the "College of Winterhold" quests. The quest is "Revealing the Unseen". I tried everything, but I cannot seem to be able to move the beams of light so that they are centered on the rings around the room. I tried shooting fire and ice at the crystal itself, I tried shooting fire and ice at the rings where the crystal sits, I tried shooting fire and ice at the light beams themselves...nothing seems to work. I am not sure if the game I purchased has a glitch in it to where I can't complete that part of the quest line, but it's really starting to irritate me. If anybody has any advice on what I should do...PLEASE help.

Well, you shouldn't have to shoot fire and ice at anything besides the crystal itself. You have to cast Flames and Frostbite to center the light with the position of the rings. There are spell tomes by the buttons above if you don't know Frostbite. Then you have to move the rings by pressing the buttons above.
