If you steal something, you should find that a messenger will give you a letter, it will say meet someone at the waterfront at night, then if you do the challenge set for you, you'll b entered into the thieves guild

For lockpicks, the best place to go is to the khajiit that hated you in the dark brotherhood abandoned house, he has lots for a cheap price

Ask a begger about the gray fox they will say somthing like I don't trust you. Persuade them a little bit then they will say somthing like y are you loking for him tell them yes hopes this helps

THIEVES GUILD:

Go around the imperial city, and look at grey fox posters, then ask beggars about him. They will ask why you want to find him and you obviously reply "i want to work with him" and if their disposition is high enough theyll tell you where to go. Once there youll have to get armand christophes disposition up

Punch somoene or steal something, then go to jail. Once out, wait outside the door to the jailhouse, and soon myvryna avrano will come up and give you a note "from a friend"

LOCKPICKS

Once youve joined the thieves guild you can buy lockpicks from the guilds fences (merchants who buy stolen goods). You can also find them on goblins, bandits and some normal merchants
