Question for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I need help with the Mages Guild quests.It's one of the quests when you're an evoker.It's the one where you have to help Irlav Jerol with his research in an Ayelid Ruin Called Vachtacen. When you go in there's an Argonian who will tell you about " The Pillar" and how they don't know how to open it and so on.Further on you will see Denel who asks you to get an Ayelid reference text book off of the Argonian.When I did this I went into the Pillar room and read the four boxs of Ayelid around the room. Then he translated them to 'fire,frost,damage magicka spell and increase magicka spell' I tried all these spells on the pillar but they don't work and when you try to talk to him or the argonain again they say the same old stuff, and in the quest box it says translate all the Ayelid and talk to Denel.
I need some help quick.

The first box says fire (bottem left hand corner from when you enter the room)
So click on the block where it says fire then shoot a fire ball at the pillar. Then the next says frost (top left hand corner) click on it and shoot frost onto the piller. Then for the last two you must you spells the fortify and lower magika. You have to do it in order and you must click on the block with the words befor you shoot. If you done it right a small part of the pillar will lower each time you shoot.

You have to cast the spells at it in a certain order. I can't remember the order though. I believe the fire, then drain, then ice, then increase magic is the order. You can get scrolls for some of these spells in a chest or crate close to the person by the door. I'de save before trying incase you only have one of each scroll and it's the wrong order.

You need to do it in order and in the certain places they have the incriptions
