the elven maiden

On the theives guild quest the elven maiden I read the walkthrough and I failed so when I tried it again the guard was a skeleton and there were all these ghosts so I went around the whole place looking for the statue whil getting chased by ghosts and I couldnt find it and I died so can someone please help me

I have never heard of that happening usually people reload their games when they fail a quest. But if you can't find the statuette you can still complete the quest without it, you will need to kill an npc (non-player caracter)and get a blood price , by paying the blood price the quest automatically completes itself (must be a glitch). The NPC's you can kill to get a blood price for this quest are: Errandil, Gruiand Garrana, Hil the Tall, Othesse, Esbern, Inius Colus, Kinther and the female chapel guard. Remember you need to kill them and pay the blood price (different from your bounty).
