They are in caves and you can usually find them at shrines in the wilderness.

You have to be about lv.8 for them to appear and also they have a weakness to fire.

Trolls will eventually replace boars in the wilderness when you reach a certain level, but then the trolls will be replaced by ogres as you reach a certain level. And the don't look like typical trolls, they aren't slow (they're faster than a mountain lion) and walk like a gorilla with the help of their hands and don't look like a "troll" dunno what they look like lol kinda like "the thing" in fanatastic 4 but smaller than a human. They are VERY weak to fire keep that in mind and if you are looking for "troll fat" check the ingredient shops in the towns.

When you beat the gray prince for the arena at lv. 8 or lower you can fight tow trolls or two trolls and a golbin

Search the caverns, they're usually filled with 'em. Unless you're at a really high level.
