Ok at the begining when you first join the guild youhave to face of against the other 2 and the girl gets it and it says quest failed but the dude gives me another chance to join by getting this guys swor I literally searched the city for 4 hours looking for a begger to tell me can anyone help me find the sword

You need to go to the market district and talk to simplicia the slow and she will tell you that the sword is in a chest in the upstairs bit of the shop 'a fighting chance'. Sneak in during the night when the lady isn't there and beware of the dog!

There is an even easier way , might in fact be the EASIEST way to do this quest. After you receive the quest, notice how the girl says "i'll have it by sun-up" or somethin , it's true she will. Soooo.....follow her, there's no need to ask the bums, follow the girl thief and she will lead you to the house, make sure no-one sees you picking the lock, as you enter the house you will notice her sneaking, eventhough no-one's in the house, so run past her and get the item before her, and she will simply give up the chase.
