Soul Gems?!?!
I don't get anything about soul gems, only that I need them to enchant items at the Arcane Uni. Can someone please tell me how to aquire a soul and get it into a soul gem???

You need a soul gem big enough to capture the soul and you have to cast a soul trap spell on the creature and then kill it before the spell runs out.

Ok if you've got recemendations for the mages guild go into the enchanting shops and there should be some soul gems on the tables and take them.Dont worry you wont have guards after you so your fine

You can buy soul gems filled or not, but if you want 2 do it yourself than I recommend getting Umbra and a soul gem(try to get at least a greater soul gem)

Depending on your lv. You can find filled grand soul gems in caves, forts and I even found one on a dead ogre, go figure. U need to soul trap creatures into your soul gems however finding a soul big enough to fill a grand soul gems has proved harder than I had initially thought. So here's what I did: eventually you will find a filled grand soul gem either in a cave or in a mage's guild or even being sold to you by the dark brotherhood when you barter with them. Once you are lucky enough to find one use the "duplicate" item trick and you will never have to soul trap again and you will have unlimited ressources to enchant weapons with also can be sold for a nice profit. Also in the deadric shrine quests you can acquire Azura's star which is a re-usable grand soul gem.

Get umbra's sword so you can automatically soultrap evey time you kill a monster. When you do, it's soul will be transfered into the gem.
