I change the controller layout so that shift up is RB instade of the right thum stick.

If you keep the layout the same just use you periphylls to watch the color of the thing that tells you
When to shift and hit up with the right stick with your thumb when it is blue (good shift) or green (perfect shift) and go through the track a few times to learn how the traffic will be(in order to do this properly restart when you to keep everything the same).
****Important note when the shift icon turns red BACK OFF. This will keep you from blowing your engine.
