I suggest you invest skill points in archery and charm. Archery- using archary helps because only their rangers and necromancers can attack you. Charm- using charm you can use one of their necromancers or soldiers to attack the whill hiding.

Yeah anything but melee works best in this game, too many over powered enemies that pile you for melee.

There are probably 10 or so opponents there - too many for the level you are probably at by now. The best strategy I've seen is to lure them out one or two at a time. Just get close enough for one of them to notice you. They will start to chase you and you can run a bit and then turn and fight one or two of them. Save your game and repeat. It takes some time by you will whittle their numbers down until you only have one or two foes remaining. You can then walk in, kick butt and waltz into the tower.
