A good way to defeat Sherruk is to attack him with strong moves and wear either energy or melee shields, have your strongest players (canderous with swords and someone else is a good choice) and upgrade your lightsaber with the crystals you find in the crystal cave (the crystal cave is in the northern area of the Sandral grounds) and upgrade your party members equipment. It would also help to upgrade your armor if you wear it.
Sherruk is quite easy to beat once you figure out how. First off, make sure you have plenty of damaging mines and two "tank" companions- Zaalbar with a vibrosword and Canderous with his repeater would probably be best. Once the battle begins, run towards the rocks and trees while you companions engage. You need to set mines there (frags will do, although make sure you have some plasma) and equip the Mando melee shield that can be scavenged where you fight Juhani. Then you need to bait Sherruk by taking potshots at him with a blaster. Run away, but stay within sight. Once he hits the mines, he'll take a lot of damage. If your companions did good, this will kill him. If not, you just need to activate the melee shield and engage.
Canderous with his blaster and at least improved power blast can easily take down Sherruk, the others will be fine. You don't even need mines.
For me the best choice was using mines.
I had 2 Plasma mines, 2 Minor frag & 2 aver. Frags. He was almost dead when he ran into them.
My mines were in one pile.
Mines in one pile was a great tip, set just to the front left; as close as you can get before Sheri notices you - been stuck on this for ages.
