My friend, the one who is a Halo maniac and has all the Halo books, sayed that the midget aliens are Grunts, the tall ones are Elites, and the ones with the plasma shields are the Jackals. Is this true?

<BR>He also told me that the midget ones are not really Covenants and that they work for the Covenants. That is why they wear a gas mask thing, because thay don't breath oxygen. Is this true, too?

He's right about everything except the Grunts working for the Covenant or them breathing oxygen, the Grunts are Covanant!

Actually he's pretty much right I have all 3 Halo books too and the Grunts are Covenant,but they pretty much do work for them. Oh yeah, and about them not breathing oxygen and wearing gas masks, that's true too.

They can breath oxygen, beacuse Halo 2 will have Grunts with masks, and some without masks. Grunt w/o mask= oxygen.

Grunts are supposedly not able to breathe oxygen because they wear the mask. However, they are all part of the Covenant, because it is multiple groups of aliens who are basically a cult. So yes, they work for them, but only like the way someone works for the religous cult they are in. Also, the Tall ones are elites and the short ones are jackals.

Geeeeez. I mean, can you really believe that???? Ok, Grunts wear masks because they need to breathe methane in order 2 breathe. And they're definately Covanate. Anyone who read the books should've known that. I mean, it doesn't say anything about it at all.

All of the names of the covenant are right (it says it in the manual if I remember right)
Also "Covenent" is just the name given to a religious group that all of the aliens mentioned are part of. I don't know about the gas mask thing though.

Grunts don't breath oxygen - they breath methane and come from a cold homeworld, so I can't explain them being without masks, though I'm sure they can't go long without masks. Grunts are the "midgets," jackals have the energy shields, and the elites are the tall ones. The grunts, jackals, hunters, and probably the brutes are client races - they work for the covenant, in exchage for protection, but are still part of the covenant.

Your friend is correct about the midgets bein grunts and the big guys elites but I don't know about the grunts not in the covenant

He's right except about the grunts i've read all three books myself an their are the lowest part of the covenant including jackels.
