A Forgotten Chest

Whenever your doing the quest "Lifting the Vale" for the Countess in Bruma, after you go through the cave and enter the area where you need to go into the ruins there is a forgotten chest that you connot pick and needs a key. Does anyone know where to find this key??? The chest isn't on the path or anything. If you travel West (??) you'll find it in between some rocks.

The forgotten chests of pale pass are a non-journal side quest and the reward is quite good but it's hard to walk you through is but I shall do my best. Follow the path to the ruined fort there is a frozen barrel in the lake (ESE of the entrance to the mouth of the serpent). It contains a message about an unlucky thief infroming you that he has hidden a magic ring in a chest along with a rusty key. There are three chests to be found 2 of them contains the key to the next chest and the third contains the magic ring. The rusty chest is at the bottom of the western, second broken tower of the fort (not the main tower with the entrance to the mouth of the serpent). You may need to search very carefully for the chest, because it's hidden by the grass and partly buried in the ground. The chest contains the Old key. The Old chest is located SE of the entrance to the mouth of the serpent. Follow the path south, back towards the serpent's trail, past the statues on either side. Continuing on the path, you will see a broken wall to your left with a round platform. This is the first wall you will encounter and is slighty hidden behind a bush. There is a broken column SE of this wall. The Old chest is located between the two big rocks lying south of it. The chest contains the forgotten key. The final treasure chest, the forgotten chest, is located SW of the door from the serpent's trail through which you first entered pale pass. From the door go west up the hill sticking to the natural rock wall that forms the outer edge of the valley. The chest will be in front of an odd rock shaped like a "U" which sticks out of the rock wall. In the chest you will find the Circlet of Omnipotence.

I spent about seven hours on this quest and I'm glad I saw this walkthrough.

Hmmm. Look for another chest which contains an Old Key, which is the key to opening it.
