I have been trying to open the wooden door with a lock the shape of a minotaur

When you reach the room with the huge door, you'll see stones crammed into the door on the right side of the room. Break them and you'll see a passage.follow them down, and there should be a lever that opens the lock.
Return to the room and the robot minotaur will break open the door and you'll have to fight him (he's one of the game's bosses)
