If you active the code when he or she is not in your party and you try to load your game it will back-fire and tell you that your file is ruinned.

Get the member(s) in your group first, then save your game, exit, turn off your playstation put in your gameshark, input the code and activite it, and just load up your game. You will notice it worked.
