Useful Materia Combinations and Misc. Hints

Here are some simple but effective materia combinations that I find to be extremely helpful: Final Attack-Revive, Counter-Deathblow (Not counter attack-deathblow), MP Absorb-Knights of the Round. With the Final Attack-Revive combo, when a character gets knocked out, he/she automatically casts Revive (helpful when fighting WEAPONS). Counter-Deathblow is a neat little trick. Almost everytime a character gets hit (depending upon the level of the materia), they will counter the attack normally or with Deathblow. I recommend equiping the character's ultimate weapon for it just incase they attack normally. Also, with a MASTERED MP-Absorb-KOTR combo, you can cast KOTR without eating up all your magic points. After the spell is finished, the character gains a portion of their MP back. When I have Cloud cast it, he normally gains around 500 and up MP back, but remember, it was used with a MASTERED MP Absorb. What's really neat about that is when all characters are equiped with Mime and the one casting KOTR is equiped with W-Summon, you can cast KOTR twice in a row without hardly using any MP, and then have everybody mime it repeatedly, casting an almighty chain of KOTR. That's 6 KOTR spells in one go! Quite helpful in your fight against Emerald WEAPON. If Emerald gets in a lucky shot, the Final Attack-Revive combo I told you about should keep you in good shape. KOTR prompts Ruby WEAPON to attack with Ultima though, so I would try something else instead with that fight.

Just for fun, the first time you enter Costa del Sol, don't have Red XIII in your group. He'll go and relax with the kids playing soccer. Walk up to the ball and kick it at Red with the O button. It's mean, but funny.
