Crash Team Racing Hints for PlayStation
In the previous "Stats of the Characters" hint I had submitted, I have written the accelerations of Dingodile and Tiny as 3 and Papu Papu as 4. These are actually 2 and 3, respectively.

If you jump up to the bridge, you can cut across, it's a short cut.
Cut through the cave near the end, it's a short cut.
If you don't know this than turn off the PlayStation because you're not
That smart. When uka uka/ aku aku (the good and bad mask incase your
Really dumb) tell useless info rapidly hit square and triangle to make
Get out of your face.
Whether they are long or short more than likely you'll either be able to cut across it with a shortcut or be able to powerslide through it.
If you're sick of entering codes repeatedly, then enter the codes for the character you want. Then make them complete cup races. When it asks you to save, say yes. Some you may have to do twice.
Crash cove:hit the bump in the water rate:medium
Coco park:run across the hill rate:easy
Ripper roos tube:between of the bones rate:medium
Papus pyramid:from the big steps, jump to the left on the first step rate:medium
Jump onto platform where you found the 'C' rate:hard
The last jump by the plant eaters, jump to the right. Rate:medium
Sewer speedway:when you start inside the sewer jump a hill into a small bridge jump of the bridge to the right.rate:medium
(well that is much as I remember, post some more if I missed some)
This track is very long, and it's lanes cross in many points. I'll introduce you into various shortcuts on this track. I CAN TELL YOU THESE WORK BECAUSE I HAVE DONE THEM AT LEAST ONCE.
First shortcut: on the straight part of the track before going through the spiral curves (and next is the high jump) run into a nitro or get hit by a bomb, missile, or anything that makes you bounce when hit. You must be hit while running to the RIGHT side of the track. If done correctly, you'll land on a posterior part of the curve, right before the Turbo Pad.
Second shortcut: this one is easier. On the big jump, after the long curves, go to the RIGHT side of the pad on the right. Press the R1 or L1 button at the same time as you take off the ramp. Go to the right track. It gives you some advantage.
Third shortcut: Now this is difficult to get. I suggest you use the same trick as in the first shortcut, and use a nitro, missile, etc. Try to jump LEFT, before the curve to the part where the two lanes go next to the other one, and go towards the boxes on the jump. If you use your trap correctly, you'll land down, and save some time.
Fourth shortcut: This is the one I use the most, but you need the Super Turbo Pads cheat (at the Main Menu, hold down L1 and R1, and without rel;easing them, press triangle, right, right, circle, left - ARROL), and if the cheat's active, go to the RIGHT side of the pads, the furthest right point as possible, and jump towards the upper track, right where the tunnel leading the finish starts (well it's not a tunnel, but I think you can understand what I mean) Press the R1 or L1 button as furthest as possible after you take off. When you get to the track, as soon as you land, quickly turn LEFT, either by power sliding, or by breaking to make a quick turn. This one trick will save you 7 - 10 seconds! Just using this cheat you'll be able to beat Oxide's time, which is really hard for many of us in other tracks as well.
Extra shortcut: NOTE: THIS WASN'T TESTED, BUT I HEARD OF IT. On the track where the two lanes go next to the other one, use your trap (nitro, missile...) to bounce over the red fence, and you'll land on the other lane. I suggest you do it where the fence ends, because when I use a bomb, it can't get through the fence, until the end of it.
Hope this helps!
Blue Eyes Magician
Whenever you go over a bump, push the R1 or L1 button to get a little boost.
The higher you go, the more boost you will get.
This really helps in a race.
*-*
In Crash Cove, around the first corner is a ramp and then after the ramp, there is a pool of water. Towards the end of the pool, go left and you will drive over a bump in the water. Use the bump to give you extra height in order to get onto the ledge. (the one that you need to get onto in order to get the letter)
Hope I Helped.
Here are a few handy shortcuts to help you beat your friends/enemies.
Polar Pass: You all probably knew this one, but after you exit the green cavern with the seals, there is a metal wall. By correct timing and/or some form of boost, you can jump the wall entirely.
Sewer Speedway: Shortly after the first jump with the two pipes and the turbo ramp, you'll see a long path with a large hole high in the right wall. You can use a mask, turbo boost, or power slide to help reach it, or you can try gaining speed and pressing R1 right before jumping. The shortcut skips a long turn for you and cuts off half of the track.
Oxide Station: Remember the area with two turbo pads leading to a ramp shortly before the big jumps? Well, you can avoid those and much more by veering a bit to the left on the ramp. NOTE: Do not use Super Turbo code for this, as you will go too far.
When you get a missle, hold R2+down and press circle. This works about
75% of the time when done correctly. Also, you can fire bombs backward
By pressing down+circle, and fire potions forward by presing up+circle.
BEWARE there is one placebo for unlocking oxide beware ALSO this WILL ONLY work on RCPD version of the game. try to avoid getting the platinum or PAL version of the Game.
One will give 3 characters of your choosing the same stats as Nitrus Oxide or on the pal version it will unlcock either N.Trophy or Pinstripe or the scrapbook.
If you have the version that I'm talking about use one of cheats an the stats are yours. There is one proper cheat but it is way too complicated you will find it out eventually.
If it doesn't work contact back on here on SC.
Hope I helped.
Yours truly .
Just to let people know (everyone who's played the game should know this even if they say its not true)
you can't get N-Oxide.
I have all platinum relics, beaten Oxides ghosts, you name it I've done it on this game. (for people who call themselves skilled) If you powerslide turbo as much as you can onto the 3rd turbo pad... in N-Gin Labs.
Do not jump, just drive and drop over the gap you'll see you'll go alot faster than you've ever been before off any other turbo.
Few other turbo pads will get you to this speed. Other Turbo pads that do this: (remember not to jump)
Hot air skyway 2nd turbo pad (don't take the shortcut)
Oxide Station (the first turbo pad that leads to a jump)
Cortex castle (the turbo pad right before the huge, end jump) Ngin labs (another turbo pad leading to the huge jump at the end) Turbo Track (most turbo's do this)
To keep your big big speed longer just try to get optimum speed as you enter the turbo. (Press Triangle to see your speedometer max out).
Also dont boost or bump to hard while your at this speed because it will slow you down. You will eventually lose speed.
When you have a TNT on your head keep tapping R1 and it will the TNT will jump off !
Go to adventure mode on the main menu and ride around doing races and as you do races, you will unlock places to go in.
Don't think it's easy though, because the characters that's lock might be hard.
There is no cheat for beating oxide.
I played the whole game in Adventure mode with no short cuts and no cheats and I beat him!
You have to race twice first after the trophy race and then the final challenge after the gem and relic races.
You can beat him!!
Here it is, same as the other hints after the skinny tunnel, after the 2nd or 3rd turbo pad(the people who know the secret) there's a little bump/ramp before the 1st massive ramp.
Time this carefully when you try and jump off the little bump/ramp and go left at the same time as jumping of the bump/ramp.
Note: This very handy for Timetrial mode
good luck!
There is a shortcut in Dragon Mines!
ONLY USE THIS SHORTCUT IF YOU HAVE AN AKU AKU/UKA UKA MASK, UNLESS YOU LIKE TO GET RUN OVER!
Seriously now, don't use it without some form of protection as it involves going over the railway. OK, now on to the shortcut!
When you see the first railway line (and maybe a cart going alone it) make a direct turn right so that you are on the railway, just drive across and get off at the wooden arches...
