Job Advantages/Disadvantages/Strategy

Freelancer: Don't use after you get other jobs unless you want to make in level 99 job. If you grind use it in quest to get good steal items after you get aircraft in the floating continent.

Theif

Advantages
1) Normally very quick.
2) Steals items that can be used by scholar.
3) Can open lock doors without magic keys.

Disadvantages
1) In beginning of game is useful but by end is not as effective as other melee jobs.

Strategy
1) Get to job level 30 to steal items that normally can't be bought like Bomb Fragment and Antarctic Wind.
2) Must be job level 71 to get Odin's Spear.
3) Used to get items for scholar to use.

Warrior
Advantages
1) Gets some of the most effective weapons in game.
2) Advance does extra damage.
3) Can be used at end of game as an effective job.

Disadvantages
1) Not really any other than it is a boring job strategy wise.

Strategy
1) Advance doesn't hurt defense as bad a the game wants you to think so use it most of the time unless with high attack bosses.

Black Mage
Advantages
1) Powerful black magic
2) Very useful in first half of game especially against most bosses.
3) Has better physical attack than most black mage in final fantasy games.

Disadvantages
1) As game progresses Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder don't catch up like in other games. It becomes useless.
2) The spells to case status ailments normally are useless. The best one is Breakga but sell sleep and blind (you find them in boxes) because they are pretty useless.

White Mage
Advantages
1) Most useful job in game until get it's upgrade.
2) Cure magic is normally good and Aero does okay attack.

Disadvantages
1) Hardest game to get Raise or Phoenix Down of Final Fatasy.
2) Has virtually no physical attack.

Monk
Advantages
1) Can have one of the best attacks in game up until it's upgrade.
2) Doesn't need weapons but the weapons are always found all over the place. Good for selling.

Disadvantages
1) Job level significantly affects attack ability.
2) In beginning of game it is a weak job because of lack of armor and attack.

Strategy
1) Don't bother using retaliate with one enemy because it does double damage but chances of being hit are 25% if none of your buddies are dead.

Red Mage
Advantages
1) Can use both black and white magic up til level 5.
2) Can hold a variety of weapons and has good defense.

Disadvantages
1) Must keep up job levels because magic is lower than white and black mages. If you don't use it for a long time period it can have useless magic capabilites.

Strategy
1) Often times you go through cave and have to fight boss at end. Conserve MP by using it as melee unit then use magic at battle.

Geomancer
Advantages
1) Good magic and no MP use.
2) Has pretty good physical attack.

Disadvantages
1) Has a bad ability in some places called whirlpool inwhich almost always misses. It is randomly selected with other effective magic.
2) Uses same boring abilities over and over again.

Strategy
1) For some reason the magic is effective regardless of weaknesses or strengths so don't get concern about elements.

Scholar
Advantages
1) All attack items use double the damage with scholar.
2) Makes use of the extra potions.
3) Very easy to get job levels.

Disadvantages
1) Guard is replaced with Study. Study is sometime useful but guard is more necessary especially when scholars are not gifted with great defense.
2) Leveling up with Scholars can screw up HP.
3) Doesn't double health received when using Phoenix Down.

Strategy
1) When you first are able to get scholar it's attack with Arctic wind is the most powerful attack you will have at that times.

Ranger
Advantages
1) Barrage can double attack on one enemy.
2) Can attack from back row.
3) The best chance of putting status ailments on enemies is to use Ranger's arrows.

Disadvantages
1) Almost all boss battles are with one enemy and barrage doesn't double attack unless there is more than one enemy.

Knight
Advantages
1) Covers buddies from attack when they are at low life.
2) Has high defense and good attack.
3) Defend is better than guard.

Disadvantage
1) White magic is normally weaker than other jobs.

Strategy
1) Preferred melee unit in tough boss battles because of cover and high defense.

Bard
Advantages
1) Gives positive status more effectively than other jobs.
2) Sing is always first thing in battle.

Disadvantage
1) Harps are expensive and some stay disappointing. The healing one does max 20% health but at high job levels.

Strategy
1) You can change weapons without losing a turn so start with Madara harp and then switch with Lamia or Dream Harp. Can also use daggers.

Dark Knight
Advantages
1) Soul eater is very good attack and is higher even on multiple enemies than normal attack.

Disadvantages
1) Souleater can cut your HP enough to make you faint easily.

Strategy
1) Find blood sword and give it to dark knight to make up for HP lost Souleater.
2) Souleater attack effectiveness is base on current HP. Use when HP is high.

Evoker
Advantages
1) High attack when using summons. MP even on all summons.
2) Heatra can heal you a 1000 HP when first get Evoker.

Disadvantages
1) Easy to miss place to get summons making evoker useless for a while.
2) Summons do defensive magic or attack magic randomly. Only Heatra doesn't try to put useless status ailments on enemy when using defensive magic.

Viking
Advantages
1) High defense.
2) Provoke is the only status thing that works on bosses. Provoke makes enemies attack Viking besides other players.

Disadvantages
1) Slow and not best attacker.
2) Provoke doesn't work at lower job levels.

Dragoon
Advantages
1) Jump can save dragoon from damage and can attack flying enemies with higher damage.
2) Has high defense.

Disadvantages
1) Jump leaves more vulnerable job units to get hit.
2) Can cause HP to be lower than other jobs when leveling up.

Strategy
1) Use viking in battle with it or Knight so another high defensive player in in field while in air.

Black Belt
Advantages
1) When leveling up HP will be higher than with other jobs.
2) Has highest attack in game at high job levels.

Disadvantages
1) Boost is useless. Just attack twice.

Ninja
Advantages
1) Can throw items like shiriken that takes 9999 damage off enemies.
2) High speed and takes good weapons.
3) Can attack effectively in back row.

Disadvantages
1) Has low defense especially against magic.

Sage
Advantages
1) Most diverse magic user in game. Can use summons like evoker.

Disadvantages
1) Is seen as upgrade to Red Mage but doesn't have good melee ability.

Summoner
Advantages
1) Has highest attack magic in game and has good MP.

Disadvantages
1) Just the defense issues that most mages have.

Magnus
Advantages
1) Better MP for high levels than black mage.

Disadvantages
1) Fire, blizzard, and thunder are useless at this part of the game.

Devout
Advantages
1) Has better MP than white mage.

Disadvantages
1) Can't really attack like white mage.

Onion Knight
Advantages
1) Level 90 or above awesome.

Disadvantages
1) Bad job up until level 90.

Level up job levels FAST.

Reccomend alter cave because it does least damage.so all you have to do is gaurd for 3-5 rounds because it matters of how many "stuff" you do then your job level should level up.thats it.

Easier way to get through game after Djinn

Once you get job ability give Luneth and Arc the monk ability and Refia white mage and Ingus Black Mage. Now go to mythril mines in kazus and kill off all but one party member so you have luneth or Arc left. Now FIGHT ALOT until level 14 then continue doing this until Luneth and Arc are levl 14, by now their job levels should be around 14 now continue the game until castle argus and Fight untill evryone levels once or until Ingus and refia level to 10. Now continue the game untill dwarven island and kill off evryone untill Luneth or Arc is left and fight here in the waters with one person and use retaliate so you deal extra damage and evryone has to hit you because your the only enemy and you will level easy because the lowest exp gain is 700 so at level 25 you should switch characters then you should try get Luneths and Arcs monk job to 99.

Land turtle problems easy

Its easy, all you do is get into a fight beside the wellspring were you recover hp/mp at the start of the game and gaurd for 4 turns then kill enemies, (if there is two enemies gaurd for 3 turns then kill them) once you can hit more than twice with two swords go fight the Land tutle. It takes at most 3 turns. Your job level increases in doing this so it will be easy to level.
Heres a table of the job points needed (a job levels up at 100 job points are all 20 for every move that you use an item , attack or use job ability for every job from level 1 to level 14 then from 14 onwards it's lower except for freelancer).

lots o hints

Half of the time, when you see a wall, see if you can go thorugh it, it usually leads to a secret hallway, which leads to a secret room, which leads to a treasure! Or treasures! When you get to the Ancient's Maze you should be able to find Greater Demons these beasts can summon Iron Claws to help them fight. Kill the Iron Claws when they appear do not kill the Greater Demon. Keep killing the Iron Claws. If all four of your people are alive you should get 1900 EXP for each Iron Claws you kill and when you decide to kill the Greater Demon you get 4000 gil and 2850 EXP.
Use 2x antartic wind for your hitters steal for theif aero for white mage and any magic for black mage he is easy to kill. First put summoner with ALL SUMMONS Magus with ALL SPELLS and Devout with Cure Cura Curaga and Curaja and Reflect at least and a Dragoon

Use reflect on Xande and cloud so haste and protect boost your guys (boo to xande and cloud) cloud uses bad breath so hold ribbons draggon hold genji shield may slience so if Devout is silenced chances of winning are nearly nil

Devout use curaga or curaja to heal dragoon use jump summoner uses bhamut and leavihten(hope spelling is correct) Magus use flare and firaga until he goes down(Standards Stratagey I call it)Use standard on all bosses and you should win all of them. Towards the end of the game when yuo have found the last crystal before to crystal tower go to the Ancients maze keep running around until you find a greater demon.

Keep guarding until he uses "summon" he will summon an iron claw which for each you kill you gain 1900 XP. After yuo dispatch of the iron claw keep guarding until it summons another. Using this technique, I got all four of my characters to level 99. You have to have access to the Crystal tower to do this. I also recommend doing this with a single character. OK, here it goes...
Get your character to walk around until he/she enters a battle. Do this until you get into a battle with monsters called Bluck (they're purple and have weird whisker like things). Kill all of them EXCEPt for one. Now, just guard until it summons a Kum Kum (light purple hooded thing), kill the Kum Kum, and guard until the Bluck summons another Kum Kum. A lot of the time, you won't need to guard because the Bluck will summon Kum Kum's several times in a row. Just do this until you feel like you gained enough experience (I gained 1.5 million with one character in 20 - 30 min). You might also want to switch your character to a Black Belt so you can get to 9999 hp. I don't know if this is in the booklet but get a dragoon in you're team and use jump on a flying type. I have done it and did 9999 damage when I was level 38. 1) Go to moogle mail anyone

2) Save game and shut off

3) Turn on game and at the ds start up menu change the ds clock one hour ahead

4) DS will cut off automatically

5) Turn on and mail someone else
If your just starting a game, ask a buddy who has mastered some jobs to send you some job cards. It can boost your attack or defence with the specialization items.

HP: 50,000
GIL: 25,000
EXP: 8,500

Begin this battle by hitting him with Reflect so it's Protect and Haste spells will boost your guys instead. (Although this will bounce your own black and white magic back at you, it won't bounce Summon spells.) Stay in attack mode and this shouldn't be a problem for you. After you slay Xande you'll face the Cloud of Darkness in a scripted battle; don't waste any items during this unwinnable fight. On the dalg continent go (with natilius) and dive at easternmost tip (were it looks like this )
1
)
Then dive. You should find a passage. Follow till you see an oval. The go up. Go left then park. You should be next 2 a city.(be4 you do this save up a lot of gil.) then go inside. There will be a lot of blk mages. Talk 2 them, and they will sell you spells. (lvs 3-7 white and black magic, 1-5 summon.) use these spells to heal urself, and fight doga/unei. I hope I helped!!! ^_^p.s. Use at least 1 healer and 1 blk mage. Use 2 meele. In northeast saronia, (outside of the floating continent), go to the back of the inn. Then go strait north, to a trio of trees.

Press "A" on every tree. One of them will have an elixir. Ok I've done this so I know it works. First get 4 Dragoons and get them all to level 40 or so (both job level and normal level). Evaryone should have the best lances anr armor possible (depending what part of the game your at, I did it with Dragon lances and Diamond armor). Then go to Bahamut's Cave, on the floating continent. It's west of Gyashl village. (You will need the Invincible to get over the small mountains). Get to the part where you go outside, and begin the battle with Bahamut. Have everyone use jump. If at least 3 of your characters do not get into the air by the time he attacks, then you need to go train some more. When they come down, they should all do near 9999 damage to him. Then repeat a few times until he dies. If you die before he does, just get up 5-10 more levels and try again.

I'll have more hints/cheats soon, for many of the newer FF games. Please rate my hints/cheats!!!!!

Ok if you got the game and you need gil just follow these steps and you should have more than 1 millon gil

1.get a hi-potion
2.go to menu and then to items and put the hi-potion either to top-left or top-right corner
3.go to battle
4.now when fighting go to the item action and highlight hi-potion
5.now press up on the control pad and A at the same time
Note:you should see a curser hand on a player luneth, arc, eta
6.press the B butten and go back to the item action you should have one more then before.Example 2=3,4=5
7.keep doing this and untill you have atleast 60-70 and sell all but 1 hi-potion
Note2:dont go over 99 hi-potions or you will freeze and/or lose your game data

Ok, to duplicate an item put the item into the top left or right (it doesnt really matter) of you're items section and then get into a battle. Go to the items menu in the game,go to the item yu want to duplacate (like I said top right or left).

Press up and the A button at the same time (if you did this right you will see a little flash of your weapon and shield) then press the B button so you don't use the item insted then go back to the item menu and you will have another one of that item.

You can repeat this process as many times as you like just make sure not to go over the 99 limit or you might end up with a glitched game. I mean as the screen messing up. Game freezing alot... Only way to fix it is to erase the file and make a new.

The way that jobs level up is that it is based on actions taken. For instance a character taking 5 actions a battle will have their job level increase faster than a character taking only 2 actions a battle. An easy way to level up jobs is to fight a battle, guard 9-10 times (these will count as actions), then finish off the enemies. You should have everyone's job level increase every time you do this.

How to obtain secret job: Onion Swordsman
Back in the original Famicom FFIII, Onion Swordsman was the first job you start as (unlike Freelance from the DS version), but you can play this job in the Nintendo DS version as well by unlocking it. Onion Swordsman is one of the most powerful jobs with the Onion Equipment + past level 90's.
How to obtain:
1)Register someone elses's (or multiple) communication ID under Mog Net.
2)Send message to another PC 7 times
3)Send and receive 4 messages from Topapa, on the fourth one you will receive a message to do a mini-quest.
4)Go to Uoul (First town in the game)
5)Talk to Topapa
6)Go to the cave up north of the cave
7)At the drop hole, you will have an event and then will be proceeded to fight 3 bombs
8)After the battle, you will obtain a piece of crystal, which will unlock Onion Swordsman. I am akatskii I have my own website called freewebs.com/akatskii it has games and pics and videos.

jobs

The more you go up in job levels the better you get I surgest you have a white mage,a black mage,a freelancer and a thief. You need these because:
White mage:to perform white coloured spells
Black mage:to perform black coloured spells
Freelancer:to do damage and use myrical swords
Thief:to steal things like potions and be able to flee (but it don't do as much damage(only 1-4))
