Introduction [itd] -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Onion Knight was once the class for the original III. In the remake, there's . Onion Knights are now a secret class, obtainable via Mognet. See section II for how to obtain. Now, Onion Knights aren't Knights of Onion. They are what you'd call "Late Bloomers". At first, they have horrible stats. And their gains are even worse. But near Level 90+, more precise, Level 93, their gains go crazy. I'm not talking about Job Level. I mean LEVEL! This is a hard task , but it's very rewarding. They can do anything. They can equip every non- job mastery item, and use all magic. Like from the old III. -------------------------------------------------------------------- II. How to Obtain [hto] -------------------------------------------------------------------- First get 7 people and register them on your Address Book. Have the other 7 players do so as well. Remember, they do not have to be the same ones. You can have person A,B,C,D,E,F,G. And Person B could have A,U,G,K,T,Y,Z. So you need to send and 7 messages from them. And during which, you should also mail , the elder from (the town) and do it until you've mailed him 3 times. Now, if you've added your friend's , and they've added yours, either of you can go to "send Mail" and send each other mail. When you've done your mailing, go and mail for the time. This shall get you a distress signal. He'll want you to come back and save little kids. Oh joy... a mission. It'll be well worth it though, because, well you'll see. After you talk to , go north to the cave and keep going forward. You'll eventually meet the 3 kids, trapped against a wall by 3 Bombs. Bomb LV-16 HP: 315 Gil: 110 EXP: 400 Weakness: Ice, Water Att: 31 Def: 19 Not much to say here, just be prepared, around level 18+. If you have Blizzard or Blizzaga, it'll be easy as pie. Just be careful, incase they get the better of you and get first strike. When they are defeated, the kids say a "THANKS!" and leave. Wow, we risk our butts out there, just to get "THANKS!". Not quite. Seems like one of them found a Crystal Shard, and we get it. is it, the coveted and legendary Onion Knight job. When you get this, the level of the is what matters. If your is below , don't even equip it. Any can use it, but if they use it too early, it'll backfire. For more details, see III. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ III. That's why people tend to use it later on. Even at a Job Level 1, a Onion Knight is considered god. Their Magic abilities are as high as they come, being able to use all sorts of magic. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IV. Weapons/Armor [wea] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is where it gets . Onion Knights can wield any equipment. Knife, , Ice Helm, just name it. There's too many for me to list, so just look at other guides. The only things they can't equip are the Job-Mastery ones. The Onion Knight has their own mastery item though, the Onion Blade! Onion Blade Weapon Type- Sword Wielders- Onion Knight Attack- 150 Bonuses- +5 all Stats How to Obtain- Get a Onion Knight to Job Level 99, and then wander around the land, looking for the Master Smith. If your lucky enough to find her, she'll make you the Onion Blade. Or just get a friend to send you the card, using , and visit her. I'll explain how to find her, and make her wander later. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- V. Magic [maho] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Onion Knights are like Red Mages. Only they're on steroids. They can use melee weapons, and magic. Their MP is only that of a Sage, but the ability to use both Black and White Magic is useful. Sadly, they can not use Summons. But with 99 in both Mind and Intellect, Bladck Magic can hurt your enemies enough. So just give em a pool of all 8 LV's of magic and let them go wild! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- VI. Onion Equipment [onep] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, even though the Onion Knight's can equip every item, except the Job Mastery ones, stated before, they have their own armor. These are called the Onion Equipment. They are found by slaying Dragons, found in the ??? Cave, and Crystal Tower. They are very powerful, and are dangerous to hunt. Here's the Dragon's stats- ------------------- Yellow Dragon Level: 50 HP: 79999 Gil: 12000 EXP: 30000 Weakness: None Att: 107 Def: 40 ------------------- Green Dragon Level: 60 HP: 89999 Gil: 13330 EXP: 45000 Weakness: None Att: 129 Def: 45 ------------------- Red Dragon Level: 70 HP: 99999 Gil: 14666 EXP: 60000 Weakness: None Att: 150 Def: 50 The easiest to hunt, are Yellow Dragons and the hardest are Red Dragons. All 3 Dragons drop Onion Swords and Shields (shields). However, each dragon drops a armor, which are rare. Yellow Dragons- Onion Helm 4.5% Green Dragons- Onion 4.5% Red Dragons- Onion Armor 4.5% All of them have the to drop Onion Swords and Shields, at these %'. How to Train [htt] -------------------------------------------------------------------- Onion Knights are tedious things. They have low stats until level 90+. This means if you train them from low levels, your HP is going to take a heavy blow. So the best advice is to use them after your 95+. Some people tend to use the Black Belt method, with High VIT to get to 9999 HP. Let me explain it a bit better. HP gains are determined by VIT. Melee classes have more Vitality then other classes, meaning they get Hp every Level up. So Black Belts and Knights gain loads more HP. But with Onion Knight's low VIT, they suffer low HP , which will scar you badly during the long run. So be careful, and ONLY use them once you hit 9999 HP, or your at 95+. Job level doesn't matter, level does. Once your 95+, and have good HP, go ahead and switch. Job Level takes of time, because of their low Speed. But once their speed is up to par, it's a bit easier. During the 90's, their speed will be godly allowing them to Job Level at the speed of light. Just do the guard, guard, guard, guard, and kill with these guys. It's best soloing from what I've heard, but training them all at once saves time. --------------------------------------------------------------------- VIII. FAQ [qaf] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: How do I get Onion Knights?! A: Read the Section on how to get them. Q: Why won't mail me the letter for help? A: Maybe you haven't sent AND 7 Mails. Q: My only allows 1 mail per hour. This is take FOREVER! A: That's not a question, but just set the clock 1 hour ahead. Q: Can I host this FAQ on my site? A: Go ahead, but mail me first, and give credit where due. Q: So when should I use Onion Knights? A: When your characters are Level 99. Q: Job or Main Level? A: MAIN LEVEL. Their power is derived on the level they are. --------------------------------------------------------------------- IX. Master Blacksmith [mbl] --------------------------------------------------------------------- She gives out the Ultima Weapon, as well as the Job Mastery items and cards for each job. Onion Knights are no exception. But the process of getting her to appear, much less making you items is hard and tedious. So to explain it all, go read my guide on them. Shoo. --------------------------------------------------------------------- X. Strategy [stg] --------------------------------------------------------------------- This section tells you, (or gives ideas) on tactics you can use with these. Being so verastile, they're like Wild Cards. Super Smash Fantasy Melee - All Front Row OK- Onion Blade and Onion Sword OK- Onion Sword and Onion Sword OK- Ultima Weapon and Ragnorok OK- Gungir and Excalibur Being able to equip some strong weapons makes this team melee focused. Magic Defenders- All Back Row OK- Onion Shield and Onion Shield- Flare, Haste, Thundaga OK- Onion Shield and Onion Shield- Flare, Drain, Firaga OK- Onion Shield and Onion Shield- Flare, Curaja, Blizzaga OK- Onion Shield and Onion Shield- Flare, Esuna, Arise This allows maximun defense, with a wide array of magic. Very useful for boss battles. Inspired by [email protected] Killer Hornets- All Back Row OK- Eurytos Bow and Yoichi Arrow OK- Elven Bow and Medusa Arrow OK- *Any Bow* and *Elemental Arrow of your choice* OK- *Any Bow* and Poison Arrow or Sleep Arrow This was inspired in Art Class, with Hornet shooters in the back row. During the lecture on the vanishing point and such, hornets began attacking by the Hornet Hitman, Jack. This team is all bow, allowing defense with good damage. Not as strong, but fun yet costly. I perfer Poison Arrow, but sleep can be just as annoying for the opponent. --------------------------------------------------------------------- XII.
