The Digimon you can encounter in Data Forest (rookie) is only the one that you chose as a starter digimon.
Choose Tsunemon at the beginning because you will get to meet other Digimons that can degenerate into Koromon and the other one.
When raising any Digimon, check their Aptitude level, and level up your digimon until they can't level up any more. Then digivolve them into their next evolutionary stage and do the same thing in the next stage. Keep this up and you'll have a super-powerful Digimon that deals lots of Damage, and takes barely any damage.
EX: Betamon Aptitude 71, Seadramon Aptitude 27, MagaSeadramon Aptitude 43, MetalSeadramon Aptitude 57.
In other words, Level your digimon up until they can't level up any more through each of their stages: In-Training-Rookie-Champion-Ultimate-Mega.
WARNING: Not all digimon can digivolve to ultimate level, or mega level. Some end at Champion Level, or Ultimate Level.
