I trying to unlock T.T. And I know you have to do time trial but here the question is. Do you need to be in a certain vehicle?

I believe in this game, to unlock T.T., you'll have to beat his ghost in every single course with all three machines. It's a hard feat, but it can be accomplished with hard work, and determination. Hope this helps you out.
