The Basics

Life Points

Life Points belong to the player rather than the Monsters, but it is determined by the total Health of all the Monster cards in your Deck. If your Life Points reach zero, you lose, and the same goes for your opponent.

Energy

In Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM, like most Facebook games, what you can do is governed by the amount of Energy you have. You need Energy for a variety of actions, such as entering Nodes (to progress through the game's map), as well as shuffling your hand back into the Deck during a Duel.

Every Minute you earn 1 Energy, but it can also be gained via other means. For example, Friends are able to gift you Energy (and you can do the same to them). You can purchase Energy in the game's Store using your Duel Points, although this should only be an absolute last-resort. Finally, you will get a complete refill of Energy when you level up.

TIP: Try to use all of your Energy up just before you reach the next level. That way, the full refill that you get for leveling up will not go to waste!

Duel Points

Duel Points are reserved for the more exclusive and premium items. These can include Monsters and Spells, as well as Power-Ups. You get them by working your way through the game's quests and chapters.

You begin the game with 10 free Duel Points. By the end of the main quest line you should have 24 Duel Points, and over 20 from the Duel Stars Challenge.

TIP: Spend your Duel Points on Spells as these can be added to any Deck.

Card Pieces

Like Duel Points, certain items in the game can only be bought with Card Pieces. You get them by beating Friends in Duels, completing quests and as Gifts from friends.

Coins

Coins are the game's basic currency, used to purchase new Monster and Spell cards. They are essential to progress through the game.

You can get Coins by completing story and side story duels, beating quests and from investigating Treasure Nodes. You can also purchase them with real money. Undoubedly the best way to get Coins is to request them/Gift them with Friends.

TIP: A lot of great cards are only purchasable with Coins, so make sure you always have a good supply coming in.

TIP: Sometimes the value of the gift card available is higher when sold compared to the Coin gift on offer. Gift your Friends the card instead of the Coins if that is the case as they can sell it in the Shop for more coins.

TIP: It is possible to get Coins from entering ambushes. Repeat these to get heaps of Coins per battle. Some of these give out lots of Coins with very little risk - look out for these and keep playing them to keep your Coin stocks high!

Levelling Up

As you gain experience by completing objectives and fighting duels, you will rise through the levels and 'level up'. This will give you a free Energy refill, as well as unlocking more of the game for you to play.

Objectives

Objectives appear at the bottom of the screen. These start of easy, through a tutorial of sorts, to guide you around the game. They eventually get harder and more involved, and the rewards for completing them scale up as well.

Friends

Friends can provide you with gifts, like in most other Facebook games. You can also request their help during a Duel, and have a Duel against them to earn Card Pieces.

TIP: You will get rewards even if you lose against Friends, so there really is no excuse!
