Below you will find a guide to the Skill Drills in nba 2k13. These give you a basic Introduction to this facet of the game.

Offense:

There are three types of Offensive drill.

Shooting: This involves you battling one v one against one of your teammates. It is similar in some ways to King of the Hill, whereby there are a variety of squares marked on the court and, if you successfully make a shot from a certain spot, you own that space. At least until your opponent does the same. The time that you hold a square for earns you points, while stealing an enemy square gets you lots.

Dribbling: This is a relatively straightforward exercise and one that many budding players will be familiar with. Basically you just have to dribble through a line of cones and then take a shot once you get to the end. You have to complete three laps of the cones, while for the last two laps feature standees blocking your route in.

TIP: The Dribbling exercise is one of the very best ways to earn Gold and thus earn yourself some nice VC bonuses.

Knockout: This is a difficult drill that aims to increase your shooting and reflex abilities. The premise is that you stand in a row with four players and have to try to take a shot before the person behind you - if you fail in this task, you will be eliminated. If you make a shot before the person in front, they are eliminated. In this way the game progresses until only one man is left standing. This is one to avoid for beginners.

Fundamentals:

Fundamental training focuses on the essential basics of your player's game.

Around the World: In this drill, five of your teammates take positions around the 3-Point line. You take the role of a lone defender and have 15 attempts to prevent each shooter making a basket a total of three times. Each of these times is called a Strike. Once you get three Strikes on a player, they are eliminated from the drill.

TIP: This is a great drill if you feel like you need to improve your defensive abilities, as well as for earning decent amounts of VC.

2-Man Rebound and Post-Up: This drill takes a fair amount of time to complete. You will be face off against just one other player, with the goal being to collect rebounds on shots from the 3-Point line. Once the rebound has been collected, either by you or your opponent, you can take a shot from the low post. You are given a total of twenty changes in which to do this.

Screen and Read: You play in three different roles for this drill, as a defender, a screener, and a ballhandler - each with five tries. The goal is to learn the pick and roll and how to defend it. This is is an easy and diverse drill, definitely one of the better ones in 2k13.

Combination:

These drills aim to improve multiple aspects of your game, as opposed to focusing on one specific area.

Sign Out: For this drill you take up a defensive position against five opponents. You are basically trying to force them into missing their shots. If an opponent successfully makes a shot, you have to make one yourself. Each time you miss one of these, you receive a Strike. Three Strikes and you're out of the drill.

Fastbreak: You switch roles in this drill, playing either defense or offense in a variety of scenarios. It is an easy drill, but quite time consuming, however the nature of it means it's a pretty fun one to take on.

Full-Court Pressure: This is quite a dull drill, despite playing both offense and defense. It takes a long time to complete and focuses on beating tight man coverage or stopping the attackers from doing so and making a basket.
