Question for Need for Speed: Most Wanted

For brockracer7's answer about unplugging the controller when the cops are wrestling you does that work with a wireless controller? I tried it and when I unplugged the controller nothing happened and so I just got busted. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or it just doesnt work.Please answer back and tell me if there is something else that I have to do or what. Thanks
