Question:
Latias, where is she?
 jaydo_23 |
Date of Question: Dec 20 2007 | Question ID: 103464 Hey everyone. Well I am sort of stressed by trying to find (and capture) Latias. I've spent over 20 hours looking for her in Route 102 and 103 (while doing the Zigzagoon pick-up thing). I have a few questions I really need answers to so I can find Latias. Here they are:
1. Where did you catch Latias? Tell me the exact Route.
2. If you have caught it, how long did it take for you to at least find Latias?
3. Where is the best place to search for Latias? I'm talking about grass, water/cave or the Route.
Thanks to everyone who gives me any answers.
I really need an answer for the second question to give me hope.

1. Where did you catch Latias? Tell me the exact Route.
Route 117 (To the Left of Mauville City, the route with the Day care.)
2. If you have caught it, how long did it take for you to at least find Latias?
Roughly an hour, using a Lv. 39 Pokemon and a lot of super repels. Switch Routes or enter buildings to make Latias Move. I encountered her on Route 116 originally.
3. Where is the best place to search for Latias? I'm talking about grass, water/cave or the Route.
Latias catching strategy.
If you have not encountered Latias, Well, good luck finding her (It can be a real pain) I would suggest using a Pokemon that is around Lv. 30 with Repels, so you are not bothered whilst hunting. Look in any Route on the Left side of the Map (Rustboro side stc). Avoid looking in Caves, as Latias will not appear there. Just keep switching between two routes to get Latias to change location.I suggest spending either 2 Mins per Route or 10-20 Pokemon encounters (If you are not using Repels) Eventually, you should encounter Latias. Throw your Master Ball for an easy Capture.
If you have encountered Latias, Fly to Mauville City. Check Latias' location. Enter the Gym and exit. Check location again. Repeat those steps until Latias is close to you (1-2 routes away) and then go their and look in the grass for a bit. With luck, you should find Latias easily. Throw your Master Ball on sight.
If you do not have the Master Ball, Use a Wobbufett at around Lv. 35 - 50 to fight Latias. It will not be able to escape due to Shadow Tag, where I believe you can switch out with Shadow Tag still in effect. Lower Latias' Hp and throw an ultra ball when it is low. Status condtions really help here.
Hope that helps you
Zaltias.

Look, Latias (and latios) can be encoutered ANYWHERE outside. Not caves, not inside, not underwater, but in grass, and ponds and oceans whilst surfing. Knowing where someone else found it will not help you. Just keep looking and use a master ball to catch it when you find it.
I have played through sapphire, ruby and emerald all several times, and sometimes I have found it really fast and sometimes it takes ages... Like 20 hours or more! It is a chance encounter. Also in answer to your first question, each time I encountered latios or latias, it has been in a totally different spots, everywhere on the map. My advice just do circuits of the entire map... Latios will really only move when you move to a different part of the map... And when you go inside a building. A good strategy is to keep leaving and returning to one spot and searching around for a bit... This way you might encounter your lati easier.
Latias has the same chance of being anywhere... Use your masterball when you see it.
I hope these answers haven't disappointed you, but here's a link that may help you a little more than I can! Just keep searching. The Lati is there, you just have to find it!

That is serebii's pokedex entry for latias, cut and paste or copy and paste the link into your browser. This website is really informative and helps for tricky stuff like this!

Hey, the Pokemon that you are looking for is found in mainly grass(well, at least for me). The VERY best(and only)way of catching it is to save your masterball until after you capture the Pokemon on Mirage Island. It takes a long time to find Latias. If you are searching for Latias or any legend Pokemon, then make SURE to save the game before encountering it. Such as, if you are in grass and looking, just save every now and then. This can help you if you try catching it and it runs from you, then you can just turn off the game without saving it, then it will start over like you never even saw the Pokemon before. And like the other people above me, there is absolutely NO specific spot to where Latias is. I hope that is helps you, because I have been playing Pokemon since I was old enough to read.

1. Where did you catch Latias? Tell me the exact Route. -Route 118. Just west of the Berry Master's house.
2. If you have caught it, how long did it take for you to at least find Latias?
-Hahahaha, 2 minutes. Lucky me.
3. Where is the best place to search for Latias? I'm talking about grass, water/cave or the Route. -She's anywhere. But my personal tip? I've heard this work for other people as well. Look for strange rain. Find a route where it's raining, but it shouldn't normally rain there. My case, it was raining at berry master's...it usually never does. When I noticed that, I flew to lillycove and came around the long way (surfing south of mt pyre) to go to the lake near his house, and surfed around. After about 8 encounters, I traveled west onto route 118, and walked around in that first patch of grass. She popped up after 1 or 2 encounters. And I freaked out :)
